This Is Us : Kevin's new storyline seems forced
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
All of Kevin's storylines are duds.
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
I kind of agree.
Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar and doesn't.

Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
And what was up with him running out of the restaurant without paying the check??? WTF??? And none of the staff chased after him? Man oh manhate to play the race card but if he'd been a person of color smh
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
If a celeb comes to your restaurant, it's worth more in PR than the $10 for Lava Fries.
I suppose you could social media shame a celeb for not paying, but that could backfire.

Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
TV characters never pay bills at restaurants or bars. Unless there is some story reason to be doing so. You're just kind of supposed to assume it gets done at some point.
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
Kinda like how nobody says "goodbye" before they hang up the phone. That's always bothered me. :)
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
On 7th Heaven, they actually had a conversation about that once.
Kevin: "how come nobody in this family ever says goodbye when they get off the phone? I've started doing that and people outside the family think I'm crazy?"
I used quotes, but that's totally a paraphrase, and I don't really remember the answer. I think it was just something about saying what you have to say and then hanging up.

Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
I think I remember that! I was relieved I wasn't the only one to be bothered.
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
Or how people show up to their friends' houses unannounced and the door is always open.
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
I think they have chemistry, I never really liked Kevin, and this makes him seem more genuine, human.
I really like Sophie, hope she sticks around. But Kevin has a lot of work to do to convince her he even cares about her. We'll see if he's got it in him.

Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
I completely agree. He's on his third love interest and I'm supposed to care? There have only been 14 episodes so it's pretty ridiculous. Honestly, I didn't mind Kevin at first but he's on his way to being the least interesting character on this show.
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
plus, thus far, they haven't addressed Kevin's work (with Sloane) during all his encounters with Sophie. He seems to have free reign of his time
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
I COMPLETELY agree. I'm thinking of just fast forwarding through Kevin's scenes from now on. He's got the most superficial and boring storyline on the show. I did the hardest eye roll when his ex-wife stormed out of the restaurant as if she had JUST remembered that he cheated because he said 'we can pick up where we left off'. If you were still upset enough to storm off, why did you agree to meet up in the first place? It was super cliche. Now they will play this cat and mouse game where she's upset but she still accepts his invitations and will go from flattered to grumpy within seconds so that Kevin can make some corny speech to change her mind. Ugh.
I also find it annoying that we're supposed to believe he's super in love with her because he's infatuated with details. Him going on about how well he knows her is tiring. It's like someone took a few pages out of a cheezy romance novel, 'I know you're panicked right now because you hate tight spaces, that's how well I know you, blah blah whatever the hell he said.' That's not romantic, just irritating. Plus the chemistry between them hasn't been established enough for me to care. If anything this could have been an episode where we left Mr. Perfect (Jack) and Rebecca's little anniversary out, and instead got flashback context with Kevin's former love. Not that I'm interested, but it would have made more sense.
Isn't he supposed to be acting somewhere? Did the play wrap up?

Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
Since the beginning I have been saying Kevin's storylines seems like a completely different show, like a really lame cheesy rom-com show that would have never been picked up by a network.
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
I think the reason they are showing Kevin's pursuit of his ex wife is because it is somehow linked to something Rebecca and Jack went through.
Everything they seem to show about Randall/Beth, Kevin/Sophie (or current love interest), and Kate/Toby, is related to some of the challenges that Jack and Rebecca went through in their life. I think that's the reason they kept showing flashbacks to their wedding, and how their children grew up to handle their commitments, challenges or problems in their marriages. (Or in Kate's case, her relationship with Toby as a fiance).
That's the impression I get. So as annoying as Kevin seems (and I agree he is annoying and shallow) there's a reason for everything, and more to the story yet to come.

Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
I saw Justin Hartley (Kevin) on my local NBC affiliate last week, and he said that soon we will see what happened to Kevin, and why he acts the way he does. ;)
Re: Kevin's new storyline seems forced
This what happens when networks order more episodes because of greed.
