Riverdale : Confused… Netflix… CW…????

Confused… Netflix… CW…????

I just binge watched the entire first season of Riverdale on Netflix and came here to see if there was a date yet for season two, and discover that the show is running on CW with weekly episodes. I've never seen this with any show before. Usually the show runs a full season on whichever station runs it and once the season is over a while later it runs the full season on Netflix. Have I slipped into the twilight zone??? LOL

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

where do you live?

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

I'm in Canada. The two above posts and a couple in another thread finally answered my question LOL

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

Outside of the US Netflix is the outlet producing Riverdale. It is only tagged as a "Netflix Original"
Outside of the US because "The CW" is only available in the USA.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

Where I live, Netflix also has one episode a week.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

I don't know how you binge watched the whole season when Netflix is only releasing episodes by the weekly schedule outside the US only after they air on CW. So, you're either lying or there was a mistake of some kind on Netflix which allowed you to see the whole season by mistake. The first option is more likely.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

I have no reason to lie. As I stated in my first post I came here to see when season 2 starts because the final episode ends on a major cliff hanger. I also wanted to post here to ask how many people would be returning to watch season 2 because of the cliff hanger. It's one of those types of cliff hangers that usually divide the audience into two camps; 1-Oh wow, I GOTTA see season 2 now. Or 2 - What kind of stupid cliff hanger is that?? I'm not watching season 2.
I fall into the first camp.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

If this is true. Then spoil it here. Just put a SPOILER text mask. I assure you you will not be able to do that though, because you lying. :)

LMAO wow, you people. Why would I lie??? I was as surprised as anyone that the full season was up. But fine.. Here's your spoiler..

The hard core Archie comics fans are gonna freak when they find out that Archie doesn't end up with either Betty or Veronica, but ends up with Josie. I imagine the racist and prejudice freaks who have been posting on the boards here are gonna have a field day with it too.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

Holy crap I kinda wondered that by the way he was looking at her and awkwardly trying to come up to them before being rebuffed immediately.

Thanks, mate.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

Since you have sen only 6 or so, if you're not lying, based on not knowing that there were going to be 13 episodes in season one, that cliffhanger was most notably the midseason finale.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

That's what I'm wondering now, if it's the mid season finale. As I mentioned above I thought it was an original Netflix series with only six episodes per season like a lot of their other ones.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

lol like you didnt just predict that and say it's a cliff hanger. Everyone sees that coming.

**Christ died for your sins, was buried and rose on the 3rd day. Turn away from sin and to Christ**

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

I don't see how anyone could see it coming, I didn't even see it coming until it happened. And that's not the cliff hanger I was referring to and didn't even say it was a cliff hanger. I wouldn't post a cliff hanger as a spoiler as it would ruin it for everyone. I normally wouldn't even post any spoilers, but it was asked for, sooo

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

I think you're high.
I'm in Canada too, and there's only been two episodes so far.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

The cast literally just wrapped s1 like yesterday??

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

The cast literally just wrapped s1 like yesterday??

Seriously??? So there's more than six episodes in season 1?

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

Seriously???
Yeah, they post loads of picture of the wrap party

I think it's gonna be thirteen episodes but idk for sure

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

Yep, you're right. I actually thought this was a Netflix series and didn't know it was a CW one. They even start each episode with that Netflix series opening banner thing.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

they do that with ALOT of shows.

if you watch the credits, at the end the berlanti productions would have been a dead give away since he does al the cw's comics stuff and im not an american.
europe. but after a while you kinda leran these things.
also the season being aired only 1 ep per week is not netflix's model
penny dreadfull for example is also not from netflix yet they say netflix series. i don't know why they do that.

it only ends once , everything before that is just progress.

I don't watch end credits, nor am I familiar with, let alone an expert on, which production companies does work for which stations
Netflix has actually started running some of their own shows the same as network shows, by releasing one episode per week.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

mate NO they don't! the series that are called netflix originals but release 1 ep a week are not netflix originals! there are alot of examples. ask anyone with a bit of knowlegde on the suvject. those shows, netflix partners with the networks and pays some of the production fees and they then can air the 1 ep per week. just like is going to happen with the new star trek show in may.
or like they just did recently with shooter, designated survivor, ect

the ones netflix makes, their own shows they always release on the same day.

im far from an expert to, thats why i made the point that im not american but european and have to use netflix/torrents to view all i want but still after awhile i picked up on wich company does what

it only ends once , everything before that is just progress.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

@ tuning_guy16

Netflix has a deal with CBS, owners of Showtime, to distribute Penny Dreadful via streaming outside the US. It's why you see the Netflix logo.

http://deadline.com/2014/10/cbs-studios-international-netflix-multi-territory-licensing-deal-includes-penny-dreadful-850158/

They also helped finance the last season I believe.

CW shows, I believe it's all of them, have a deal with Netflix, when the season is finished, a week later the whole season is available on Netflix. CBS is also part owner of The CW, the other being Warner Bros, they used the first letters of their brand names to form the network name of The CW.

http://collider.com/netflix-cw-streaming-deal/

The deal went into affect this season. Also, Netflix made a similar deal with ABC on some of their shows.

Hopefully this clarifies a few things for some folks.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

@ maverick

thats what i meant but you put it into words alot better
i was going to use penny dreadfull as an other example but didnt.
like u said, they are not netflix shows like the persons i commented on said they were.

its not all of the CW shows here in europe. arrow is each week. flash and legends arent on. imzombie is. VD and the orginals to.

didnt know that about the CW name, thx for the info.

i just find it kinda weird that they call them netflix originals on netflix. thats why some people are mistaken into thinking netflix made them.

it only ends once , everything before that is just progress.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

If they helped with production costs or are taking some risks distributing the show, they technically are "Netflix Originals", at least outside the US.

Riverdale, falls under the deal I linked to in my previous post, so here in the US, we will see the entire season on Netflix a week after the season 1 finale airs.

Side note: When this board shuts down, previously.tv has a good active community on most shows today, including Riverdale.

http://forums.previously.tv/forum/2003-riverdale/

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

yea but thats kind off a cheat cause people go to the section, netflis originals and expect a show on the same quality as house of cards or daredevil and get some network show. atleast the people who don't know that there is a difference.

riverdale is allready airing one per week here on netflix. i just gave it a shot cause i was really bored and thought lets give it a shot.

thx for that sidenote cause im still not sure where to go. well i know movie database but its empty there. atleast for now

it only ends once , everything before that is just progress.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

I agree, it's a cheat. It could be somewhere in their contract that allows them to do that.

I'm going to wait for Riverdale to hit Netflix in the US before I start watching.

Anyways, I've already moved over to previously.tv, so I hope to see some IMDb members over there after the shutdown.

Re: Confused… Netflix… CW…????

So Canada airs weekly episodes of Degrassi: Next Class while Netflix US gets the entire season ahead of time. US airs weekly episodes of Riverdale while Netflix Canada gets the entire season. Funny how that works.
