Re: What year(s) have your favorite movies of all time?

off the top of my head 1994 - pulp fiction, shawshank redemption, forrest gump, the lion king, four weddings and a funeral, dumb and dumber, the professional, new nightmare, the santa clause, clerks, speed, true lies, the mask, ace ventura, the crow, legends of the fall... not that they're all favorites, but lots of good stuff that year. If I thought about it more, might pick a different year.

Re: What year(s) have your favorite movies of all time?

1994 was a really good year, probably the best for quality blockbusters. The year that produced my favourites though (that is films that would be among my top 10-20) would be 1973. 1971 was incredible too, probably the best year ever for sheer quality.

Re: What year(s) have your favorite movies of all time?

Can u specify with few titles for 1973 and 1971?

Re: What year(s) have your favorite movies of all time?

Gotta say, 1999 is looking pretty good.

Re: What year(s) have your favorite movies of all time?

For tentpole releases I really love 1980: The Empire Strikes Back (I think quite possibly the greatest sequel either and a film which fixes all the flaws with the groundbreaking, but unfocused, original), Airplane! (just a great silly comedy), Superman 2 (maybe lacks some of the mythic impact of the first, but easily one of the best superhero movies before the genre's golden age), and The Shining (perhaps the scariest movie ever made). Also is a great high minded film classic in Raging Bull.

In general, 1939 gets a lot of deserved praise, but I also really like 1969 (The Wild Bunch, Midnight Cowboy, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, probably my favorite classic Bond with On Her Majesty's Secret Service, etc)

Re: What year(s) have your favorite movies of all time?

Going through all of my ratings, I can find only one year that I gave a 10/10 to two films.

1974:
Chinatown
The Godfather Part II

And there's been two years where I've given a 9+/10 to 5 movies.

2003:
A Tale of Two Sisters
Memories of Murder
Kill Bill: Vol. 1
Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
X2: X-Men United

2008:
WALL-E
Ip Man
Iron Man
The Dark Knight
Red Cliff

I don't think I would call either 2003 or 2008 the best year for movies though. I'm a young'un, so I just happen to have rated more recent films than films 20+ years old.

I might have to go with a safe answer of either 1982 or 1994.
