Split : Continuity error *Spoliers*

Continuity error *Spoliers*

In the very last scene with David Dunn (Bruce Willis), he's sitting right next to the girl who mentions about 'That guy from 15 years ago', yet when the camera pans across the diner before hand, David isn't there. Somebody is actually sitting about 5 stools down from them drinking, which at first I thought was Dunn, but even he dissapears in the next shot. That's sloppy film making from Shamalan, especially for such a pivotal scene.

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

We don't see the whole diner. Dunn is sitting in the very end of the counter, which is in the dead space.

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

The camera never panned to that seat beforehand. Please know what you're talking about before criticizing someone for being sloppy.

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

Ok, it was a poor choice of word. The camera DOES move along the diner though, and we can clearly see 3 completely different people sitting there until the scene cuts away and 2 girls and Willis are sitting there seemingly out of nowhere.

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

That's not true. We see 3 different people but that's the other part of the counter. And then, it cuts to the 3(!) women and Bruce, who are sitting on the other side, where the camera started from and wasn't visible, because of the angle.

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

thats cuz thats ghost bruce from sixth sense

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

That solves the argument!

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

Nope! it was the guy from Unbreakable.

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

nope ghost dad notice how he wasnt there and then when he does pop up hes all like mr glass no one even notices him cuz they cant hear him cuz they dont see dead people

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

Yeah, it bothered me too.

I've seen the movie twice, and despite what people are saying yes, they absolutely do show the whole counter in the first shot, and Dunn isn't there.

Then they cut to another angle, and suddenly he is there.

It is sloppy, but then again, so is the line of dialogue. "This is like that guy in the wheelchair from 15 years ago" Oh, is it really? A few girls kidnapped and held hostage in a zoo, is just like that mass-murderer who blew up, burned down, & crashed 500+ people to death?

I forgive all of this though, simply because the Unbreakable tie-in was just too damn cool

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

I just watched it and there was no continuity error. They start by panning the seats on the side opposite the counter. They show a single person in the booth, then three, then a couple. They don't show the seats that the three ladies and Bruce would be sitting at. They catch the last two unoccupied counter seats just before the counter splits. On the return pan - they show the three counter ladies and Bruce across from the triple booth. But there are clearly at least two empty spots on the counter before the three ladies - which would be in line with the opening pan. NO continuity error.

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

Exactly. 7-7 chairs at the two parts of the counter.

man in red
lady in blue/gray?
empty
empty
empty
empty
bald man in black

a waitress(?) is crossing the diner

empty
empty
empty..the camera is somewhere here, when it turns from the booths.
lady in blue
lady in white
the lady who remembers Mr. Glass but not his name
the guy who remembers the name

These last 4 people are not visible when the camera faces the other direction. After the cut, we can see them in reverse order.

It doesn't get any clearer. Hope this explains it to the doubters.

Well, I like she actually said something more like, "Oh, this guy has a name. It's like that guy 15 years ago what was his name?"

I don't have the wording exactly perfect, but she was referencing the villain being given a name, not the deeds of the villain.

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

As other people have mentioned, that's not a continuity error, we simply don't see the first part of the bar when the shot first pans across it.

I noticed another continuity error though, although I'm not sure if I've seen that wrong. But when Casey attempts to rescue Claire from the cell she's held in, she opens the slider lock to open the door. But she ends up finding both, Claire and the beast in there. So if the beast is in there, who locked the door from the outside?

Re: Continuity error *Spoliers*

The door was closed but the slider wasn't. She just grabbed the knob and opened the door.
