I liked the movie but do agree that the whole "molesting uncle" contrivance is tired and cliche. But the film couldn't have used, say, a molesting best friend, because the transfer of custody was important to the plot and needed to be uncomplicated.

Kids are way more likely to be raped/abused by a male family member or close friend of the family(you can google this fact). I see no problem with them using that

It looks like a telly movie trying push some nostalgia from a movie from past glory days.
AND fecken hell, can the uncles never get a break?
And the twist should have been
