Film Art and Cinematography : What movies are the best, Visually?

Re: What movies are the best, Visually?

I think No Country for Old Men and Sicario are excellent. Sicario is a mix of sound and image working emotionally. This is a masterpiece.
No Country for Old Men is not that emotionanly powerful, but it works in different way - this is masterpiece of classical photographer in terms of image composition.

As far as cinematography goes, I personally liked...

Apocalypse Now (I recently saw it in theaters)
Once Upon a Time in the West
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Mad Max: Fury Road
The Matrix
Blade Runner

There are tons of others that I like, but tastes in cinematography can be subjective.

Re: What movies are the best, Visually?

As was originally and specifically qualified, here is a very short list of my own favorite films... "with great cinematography, great art direction, and a beautiful score:"

RAISE THE RED LANTERN

INTOLERANCE

EXCALIBUR

I agree with many other films as were previously mentioned in this thread, and while I did not read each and every post, I did not see, even, one of these listed by anyone else. Oh well... IMO, they're all worth whatever amount of time and expense it might take for one to see them.
