So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

It was a pretty good show, other than Bob Costas wormy, arrogant face receiving way too much air time. I really wish Vince McMahon had picked Costas up from that chair and tossed his goddamn ass out a window.

Anyway, what a ridiculous spectacle the XFL was, not really surprising that the league folded so quickly. I vaguely remember when it launched, and I also vaguely remember not giving a sh!t about it.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

I remember when it started as well. Jim Rome summed it up perfectly on his first show after the league debuted. He said something along the lines of "The worst thing they did was try to make it real football"

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

Yes, I remember listening to that episode of the Jungle. Jim Rome absolutely buried the XFL right from the start. He did do a funny "impersonation" of Jesse Ventura a few weeks later.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

Bob Costas is a God!

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

He's the God of Kunts, that's just about it lol.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

Seriously, Costas might be my favorite all-time (national) broadcaster. Have to throw in that caveat because of Vin and Chick.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

I thought it was poorly made, did not like the style of it at all, way too many fast cuts and way too much loud music, like they were trying to make it all more EXCITING!

The info about the XFL itself was interesting, though.

Was just a chore to sit through.

Today we are plagued by this. So many movies, videos, TV programs are made this way. I guess to appeal to people with ADHD.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

What's the XFL?

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

Alternative American Football league in 2001 with 8 teams that was hyped as more exciting, hard hitting with less rules than the NFL. It was started by Vince McMahon but it only lasted 1 season. Started off as a bang but really there were only a few teams that did fill stadiums like in LA and San Francisco. Las Vegas had the sluttiest cheerleaders like they came straight from a bad cliche movie about strippers. They must have gotten real strippers right off the Vegas strip.

I remember when they introduced the the Las Vegas QB (whatever his name) just before their first game started, he was standing in the stands next to a few cheerleaders and the one next to him said this and he knows how to score". Just cringy as hell but she did have nice big fake tits.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

Oh yeah. Sounds familiar. Didn't one of the teams have a running back that used a weird nickname?

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

I can't tell if you are serious or not, but it was He Hate Me.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

You can't tell if I'm serious? When my name is HeHatesShe?

Hell, this is the internet and I can't hear voice inflection.

Besides, you could of been as dumb as a box of rocks.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

One person said "We have one half of football to sell this league". And that's all I watched. I could go watch midget football and see better execution. It was awful.

And now the manager of all that WWE stuff is going to be in Trump's cabinet.

you re gonna need a bigger boat.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

I've got the episode saved to watch.

The league was stupid, it was like a simpsons parody. They thought by making loud music and let the players put dumb names on their back, it would be "cool" and it was anything but. Having Ventura as an announcer was a huge mistake. There was nothing legit about it. The play was weak and they had the potential to do something good since they did get a TV contract but it was run by idiots. Also the whole "split a million dollar pot!" was stupid. Woopie. What does that come to, like 20 grand a guy? That's supposed to be a big deal?

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

They were only making $4000 per game.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

They were only making $4000 per game.

Yeah, and?

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

20,000 would be a lot for them.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

Lol how bout the thing where two players sprinted to the ball to see who had first possession?

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

20,000 would be a lot for them

You're missing the point. It makes the league look small time. If 20gs is a lot of money to a player than this isn't really a big time league like they were portraying it to be.

They literally thought they could go a couple years and fold and the NFL would take some of the teams but when your big deal is a million dollar pot split up among the team, it's petty, like a third rate league and no one took it seriously. And they really pushed that "million dollar prize" throughout the season like it was a big deal, it was laughable.

You're missing the point

No, pretty sure you are.

It makes the league look small time

No, the league was small time.

Which they never did.

like a third rate league and no one took it seriously

Which is exactly what it was.

No one ever pretended otherwise.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

Do you remember the xfl? They were literally portraying it as the alternative to the NFL and they were hoping for some sort of merger at some point. I remember it very clearly because it was so cheap and lame and I always wondered why would they think the NFL would take this idiocy seriously?

So you're the one who is missing the point.

Game. Set. Match.

^^^^^^^^^^
Exactly.

Re: So I watched the XFL 30 for 30 last night…

Almost done with the episode, it's pretty entertaining. I remember Jesse Ventura as an announcer, one of the absolute worst ever. Every other phrase was "he's got a lot of heart." He was a cliche machine beacuse he didn't really know enough about football to be an announcer so he just ran out the cliches over and over but that "he's got a lot of heart" he'd say ten times a broadcast. IT was pretty unbearable.
