La La Land : I liked it, but…

I liked it, but…

First I didn't really think it needed to be a musical. The numbers didn't reach out like actual broadway musicals. Nice theme melody tho.

Second, it was good, but the award hysteria around it is a bit much. I think hollywood loves movies about hollywood and goes overboard with the self-congratulatory accolades. NPR's doing a story about how its received more Globe nominations than any other film. In history. Uh, I liked it fine, but it wasn't historically good, you know?

Re: I liked it, but…

According to you. They people who's opinions matter declare it to be historically great.

They people who's opinions matter declare it to be historically great.

You mean people of the same ilk who said Trump had less than 10% chance of winning?

Re: I liked it, but…

No, I mean movie critics. Who end up right pretty much all the time, even if general audiences disagree.

Well, I think it's a stretch to call critics/media part of Hollywood (beyond being a tool), but I know what you mean.
