La La Land : Hollywood loves movies about itself..
Re: Hollywood loves movies about itself..
I think the music is fantastic. I was on Youtube months before the release of this film repeatedly listening to the pre release snippets.
Re: Hollywood loves movies about itself..
How many Hollywood movies about Hollywood are really getting made these days? Hardly any I'd say. What with all the comic book movies, sequels and Nicholas Sparks novel rife for adaptation, who has the time?

I agree and came to the board just to say so. NPR's doing a story about how its received more Globe nominations than any other film. In history. Uh, I liked it fine, but it wasn't historically good, you know? But not the first nor last movie-themed movie to get crazy raves from, uh, movie people.

You actually listen to NPR??

Re: Hollywood loves movies about itself..
It's not just about Hollywood of course. There is universality in the particular. It resonates with many who've had dreams of one kind or another and made sacrifices for them, especially intimate ones, and know the bittersweet feeling of it. This is especially the case for creative people, that context articulated in the story Mia tells about her grandmother to the casting agent and director.
