Goofs : The Most Obvious Goof Of All Time?

not to mention thet if their hands were cuffed together as they were supposed to be, a jump like that would have ripped someone's hand off at the wrist when they landed, or at least caused some serious injury

My most obvious goof is in the good son, when the electricity is turned off and the two kids are running through the house, you can see a digital alarm clock still on in the background.

After the Doolittle raid, the Raiders head west to China. In one shot, however, the Raiders are shown heading away from the sun as it sets behind them, which means they are heading east and therefore back to Japan. This would be very unlikely considering the dire fuel situation on board the aircraft.

In Casino, DeNiro gets blown up in his car wearing that cantaloupe colored leisure suit..For a good two seconds right before the bomb goes off, you can see they dressed a mannequin who looks like a big Ken doll in the suit and put it in the driver's seat.

In Animal House...the mouse that runs across the steps of Dean Wormer's building as John Belushi runs in to shoot the horse.

Somewhere in the beginning of the film there is an overhead shot of the chop shop with a camera and cameraman plainly in the shot.

I didn't scroll through all either, but the most obvious one I can think of (apologies if it's been mentioned) would probably have to be that Ted Danson cut-out in the window during "Three Men and a Baby". Probably one of the few times in cinema that a goof sparked an urban legend revolving around it.

The most obvious to me is Little Shop Of Horrors (1986). During Mean Green Mother From Outer Space, Audrey II grabs the Six Shooter, and fires it AT LEAST TWELVE TIMES.

Pink Panther 2 (2009)- When Clouseau opens the dumbwaiter, there's a plate with a large decorative napkin on it, however, we switch to a shot of him making an "I'm a genius!"-type face, then switch back to the dumbwaiter as Clouseau runs for it, and the napkin is gone and a bun is in its place. Then the dumbwaiter goes up and Clouseau falls out of it, and guess what falls out of the dumbwaiter with him? Yep, you guessed it. The napkin.

Taking Lives: In the beginning when the crazy guy pushes the military dude in front of the jeep/van thing, he so obviously pushes a dummy. Lol, the arms are stiff & everything!

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: The vampire chick's hair kept changing back in forth from straight to curly.

I didn't read all the posts so I apologize if this one is a repeat but in the movie "Twister" at the part where they are driving in his truck and all the farm equipment is falling down around them and I have no idea what the name of the one particular piece of machinery is, but it falls right in front of them and you can clearly see the red arm bust the windshield of his truck before the scene cuts to the next and the windshield is back perfectly intact.

The ever changing cheese pile on the nachos in Napoleon Dynamite. By the way I dislike that movie immensely.

Chaos Theory: another easy one, ryan reynold's cigarette changes length in almost every cut, going twice from almost done to freshly lit....

Chaos: so obvious, omg... ryan philippe on a scooter drives through a glass door, but it shatters like 2 whole seconds before he gets there....

Clooney presents Damon with a ticket to Las Vegas in some generic bar. The ticket is under his hand, Clooney lifts his hand up and somewhat signals to the staff member in the bar, when he puts his hand down he realises that the ticket isn't there. He then praises Damon with pulling off 'The best lift I've seen you do yet! - I'm sorry, WTF, I can pick up a piece of paper someone has basically left on a table while they look away. It doesn't mean I have some amazing skills in pick pocketing theft!

Yeah, that one gets me every time. I actually cringe when it happens.

My girlfriend mentioned that as well. I can not see it myself, he delivers the line very straight and without any wry sarcasm or sucking up, but hey I'm always open to a new viewpoint on something.

City Slickers--When Jack Palance's character dies, they bury him in the desert and mark his grave. In the next shot, some flowers have mysteriously appeared on his grave.

American Wedding--Right before Jim and Michelle tie the knot, Michelle has a heart-to-heart talk with Jim's dad. If you look closely at the mirror behind her, you can briefly see a crew member's arm.

Dodgeball--When Peter LaFleur encounters Patches O'Hoolihan in the parking lot, when Patches says "I ain't crazy and I ain't a guy", his lips aren't in sync with the words.

High Anxiety--When a mysterious man leads Mel Brooks into the airport restroom, a boom mike briefly appears.

Duel--When Dennis Weaver is in the diner, and the camera slowly pans closer to him, you can see the shadow of the film equipment reflected on the booth where he's sitting.

E.T.--When E.T. is saying his goodbyes at the end, Dee Wallace stands up twice in less than a minute.

Born on the Fourth of July--This movie, which takes place in 1969, includes the song "American Pie" by Don McLean, which didn't come out until 1971.

Wayne's World--At the beginning, Wayne and Garth are ending their TV show in Wayne's basement. Then, only Wayne goes upstairs, walks out his front door, and suddenly Garth drives up in a car. Why would Garth suddenly appear in his car? Wouldn't he still be in the basement (or coming up the stairs and going out the front door after Wayne?)

For me it was the huge shadow of a helicopter right at the beginning of The Shining opening sequence.

The first time I saw the movie I was like: "Look! A helicopter! There's a helicopter following them." lol

in twister, when the farm equipment hits the dodge windshield and breaks it but in a second the windshield is fixed.

In "Marathon Man", there is a scene with Roy Scheider walking alone in some sort of colliseum (the scene with the mysterious soccer ball), and as he is walking he steps over what almost looks like a train track, but is actually the camera dolly-track, which is very visible in the shot.

Nobody has mentioned the great Marlon Brando and his incredible animated facial scar in The Wild One. It just can't make its mind up where it wants to be on his face. Classic!

Well the biggest goof and the one most denied by the people who made the film is for me The Apollo Moonlandings. These Apollo films are loaded with stuff that doesn't connect with reality and still people are refusing to admit these mistakes are there and real.

well i dont have any specific goofs, but it seems like every show and movie has spots of imperfect editing. the most common situation is when two characters are facing each other and talking and the camera zooms in on one person at time, switching between the two intermittently. in every single scene like this, one of the actors is in a different position when we see their face than we see the back of their head. like they'll be leaning one way in one shot and then standing or sitting perfectly straight, or their arm will be in a different position or something like that.

The one that always bugs me and that I noticed the first time I saw it was in an episode of the USA show Psych. In the 70's episode when Gus is driving around the suspects old car in a car chase there's a shot where clearly one of his hub caps flies off and rolls out of the shot, then in the next shot all 4 hubcaps are on the car. I always thought it was strange that it made it into the show!

Yeah well I wasn't the first one to spoil it. I doubt people here really care.

In With Honors Brendan Fraiser's character has a broken leg. He's wearing the cast on one leg in one scene and then in the next it's on the opposite leg. One of the worst goofs ever.

Carnival of Souls - The Last Shot (SPOILERS)

SPOILERS: The twist ending reveals a car of dead bodies, one of these bodies is that of the main character we've been following. Awesome right? Well the water was cold, so all the bodies are shivering, and one is noticeably blinking.

The two greats that come to mind are: Star Wars, the Storm Trooper hitting his head on the door frame and Anaconda with the river running backwards.

In the show "Over There," which was on FX and lasted a season before bombing out, in one scene, they shoot at a car at a checkpoint, which then crashes by flipping over. When the car is crashing, you can clearly and perfectly see two reddish-white dummies in the car. They didn't even try to dress them up - just plain, white dummies.

In "Saving Private Ryan," when the Rangers climb onto the tank they just knocked out at the end battle scene, and a .20 caliber gun ambushes them, you can obviously tell dummies were used - they just kind of stand there, cardboard like, as each one explodes.

In casino, a split second before de Niro's car explodes, his body turns into a mannequin! Sooooo obvious.

Two come immediately to mind.

1. It's a Wonderful Life. When "George Bailey" comes into the office, tosses the Christmas wreath on the table, then picks up the phone with the wreath suddenly hanging from his arm.

2. Jagged Edge. "Teddy Barnes" appears in two different suits on the same day in court. That one really got to me.

Cant be bothered to read the whole thread. But mine is in Anaconda where they are on the boat and sail pass a waterfall and the water goes upward!!??

I did read the whole thread and found several favorites of mine missing. One is the scene in The Untouchables where Sean Connery is talking to Kevin Costner about "The Chicago Way" and the top couple buttons on his shirt keep changing status. All of them buttoned to the neck, then 1 unbuttoned, then all buttoned up again, then two unbuttoned, etc as if he were just maniacally trying to figure out how much chest he wanted to show or something...

Two would be the fight scene in Broken Arrow in the train car toward the end of the film between Christian Slater and John Travolta. There are so many mistakes in this scene it's CRAZY! Various wounds, cuts, blood stains will appear and dissapear at random (including a GUN SHOT WOUND that dissapears and reappears). I think Slater's shirt goes from being all torn up to flawless to covered in blood, etc. as well.

Lastly, in The Usual Suspects, early on, when Gabriel Byrne is standing on the steps after the gang has just been released from jail by his girlfriend, he is smoking a cigarette (always a risky move for continuity) and seems to be exhaling huge plumes of smoke every time he speaks when we very rarely seem him inhaling from the cigarette. I must admit that they acknowledge this one in the commentary track. They call it the Gabriel Byrne Dragon Breath scene...

"The Mirror Crack'd"

Takes place in 1951 yet Kim Novak pulls up in a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado. It's one of the most recognizable cars of it's time so it really stands out.
