Rate/rank the BioShock games, please

Just finished playing through The BioShock Collection; a great set by the way!

1. BioShock - 9/10. The best game for me mainly for its setting Rapture; which I find to be one of the most imaginative and immersive settings in games. I also very much enjoyed the hacking mini-game and using hacking as an advantage in combat.
2. BioShock: Infinite - 9/10. The best and most fun game when it comes to the combat. Columbia isn't as great as Rapture but it's still an awesome and beautiful setting. Thematically and narratively it's also my favourite.
3. Burial At Sea - 8/10. Explores the themes of Infinite even further and more deeply, and takes an interesting stealth-approach when it comes to the combat; Invisibility plasmid, sleep dart/gas dart/noise-maker dart crossbow, stealth and vent crawling. It was also cool to see how life in Rapture was before the sh!t hit the fan.
4. Minerva's Den - 8/10. Contains a better story, more satisfactory pace and more interesting level-design than the main BioShock 2 game.
5. BioShock 2 - 7/10. The only thing that this sequel improves upon is its combat. It is very combat-focused and in-turn this degrades the level-design to little more than combat arenas with little-to-no character. Defending the Little Sisters whilst they're collecting ADAM can be enjoyable but ultimately becomes tedious after doing so many of them. I enjoyed the narrative and how it explores the relationship between the Big Daddies and Little Sisters further but there still is an ensemble of unremarkable characters with an especially boring antagonist. Drilling people is fun tho.

Why so?

Re: Rate/rank the BioShock games, please

I just don't see anything great about BioShock and the gameplay got even staler in the sequels.

BioShock: Infinite - 0/5

Seems fair!

Re: Rate/rank the BioShock games, please

Bioshock 10/10 even now playing the xbox one version it's phenomenal.
Bioshock Infinite 8/10
Minerva's Den 7/10 agreed with your assessment.
Bioshock 2 6.5/10. The Big Sister was a good enemy.

Only played 1st part of Burial at Sea, will play rest when I get back to Infinite on The Collection.

Re: Rate/rank the BioShock games, please

The first Bioshock had the best setting and atmosphere, but I thought Elizabeth added a lot to Bioshock Infinite. Honestly, I wasn't that enamored with the twist in the first game, and by the end of it I was like eh whatever. Whereas Infinite, as messy as it got, at least I was buckled in and enjoying the ride. It felt like, "We know we didn't give you much of an ending the first time around, but check out this sht right here lol."

Haven't played Bioshock 2 or its DLC.

Also, I'm bad at rating/ranking things, sorry!

Re: Rate/rank the BioShock games, please

BioShock - 8/10
BioShock Infinite - 9/10

The gameplay of both was fairly enjoyable. I liked them more for their setting. BioShock's presentation was stunning at the time, but the characters and story of Infinite made me enjoy that game more.

Re: Rate/rank the BioShock games, please

Bioshock - Quite enjoyed it. Interesting setting, very atmospheric, and mechanically mostly sound. The so-called moral choice is just idiotic. Kill little girls or don't. Yeah, great choice there, guys, I'm really struggling to choose! Boss fight was awful as well. It also suffers from me having played System Shock 2.

Bioshock 2 - Think I played this for a sum total of an hour before putting it down. Did play it on console, though, so maybe I should give it a second try some day.

BioShock: Infinite - Again, interesting setting, though it feels very neutered considering the subject matter they chose. Story is a mess, but, hey, half the story is the journey--or whatever. Didn't like that most of the enemies are damage sponges. Weapon selection is pretty uninspired. Elizabeth was the highlight of the game.

Burial at Sea - Disliked the story and hated the ending.

Agreed; it was a pretty easy choice to kill all of them in both games for me.

Consoles are massively superior to PC gaming. Keep crying kid.

Re: Rate/rank the BioShock games, please

Solid shooters with some nice visuals. Really interesting settings, something kinda off for me about the gameplay. Not nearly scary enough. Nothing like the tension and constant crippling dread of System Shock.

Re: Rate/rank the BioShock games, please

1: Pretty good but not great. Highly overrated.
2: Sucks.
Infinite: Pitifully average.

Re: Rate/rank the BioShock games, please

bioshock- 9.5/10 its a fantastic piece of art with the only things holding it town from a perfect ten are the ending and the vita chambers.

bioshock 2- 7.5/10 not nearly as good as the first game, but the gameplay overall is a bit stronger and still has a strong story, which is presented almost as well as the first bioshock but dosnt quite hit the same mark with its visual storytelling. the themes and world building are not as well realized or captivating.

bioshock infinite- 9/10 The game reminds me of interstellar, many people dislike the movie for it being overly ambitious and not being able to tie up all of the things going on in the film logically. For the most part though, this game does as good as a job as it could of to make its story make sense, and to me after I finished the game and went through it again, it made enough sense to me to feel confident in my enjoyment of the game, sure there are few things that are a little bit bothersome but the overall experience was such a ride and I appreciate how far they went with this game and loved how it was presented. the characters were fantastic as well, especially Elizabeth.

Bioshock Infinite - 10/10
Bioshock - 10/10
Burial at Sea - 10/10
Bioshock 2 - 8.5/10
Minerva's Den - 8.5/10

The best game series ever made. Already got 100% on all three for the PS4 Remastered collection. I must have played Infinite about nine times since it's release.

Re: Rate/rank the BioShock games, please

Bioshock - 9/10
I only rate my experience with games and not actual technical aspects. Although the ending was bleh and the gameplay could be tighter, the playthrough is still one of the most memorable gaming experiences of my life.

Bioshock 2 - 6/10
I didn't care for the direction.

Bioshock: Infinite - 10/10
One of the best gaming experiences I've ever had and possibly the single greatest narrative of any game evah. In terms of story-telling it's an absolutely mind-boggling feat. A truly original and fresh setting that felt detailed and alive. Great subject matter (religion, fanaticism, love and multiverse theory? Perfect) Tears, sky-hooks, vigors and dat hand cannon made the gameplay a ton of fun. I rank it up there with TLoU, Red Dead and Fallout 3 as my favorites.

Burial at Sea left me... I dunno, confused. I think it left a lot of holes that doesn't make sense to me and it irks me. I'm not sure how I rate them yet.

Still need to try out Minerva's Den.
