I got it in three today. Most often four followed by three. I use the NYT crossword database at https://www.xwordinfo.com/Finder which has a RegEx search tool. My starting words all consist of Scrabble one-pointers.

Got it in three again. Hint: The asterisk after the score indicates Hard Mode. I think it actually makes it easier because it prevents you from doing some illogical things.

I've had it happen so many times where I put in random letters assuming it won't be accepted because it's not actually a word but then it is 😂
