House of the Dragon : Larys Strong - greenseer?

Larys Strong - greenseer?

Think that’s how he knows things?

Cheerio.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

His dad looks the same age as him (which he almost is) and it's terrible casting.

But if you remove the toupee he advances about 20 years and looks like wildman

Lord Wildman!

Thank you for talking to me

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Wildman could be an intimidating character if only he had a deeper voice. He sounds like King of the Fairies.

Cheerio.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Lord Wildman could add a further woke thespian twang to a show which has randomly made extremely white characters black

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

I think if I were ever a character in a show, I should be played by a 6’10 bald black man with a golden beard and massive penis.

Cheerio.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

So me in other words?

Thank you for talking to me

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Aren’t you a lil white British dude with glasses?

Cheerio.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Maybe Larys had a hard life, too much time in the sun, etc. aged prematurely

Cheerio.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

He comes off just like that Nostradamus character in that one cheesy show, Reign or something like that?

Shut up

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Never saw Reign but personally I think he’s creepy af. Like hide yo kids creepy

Cheerio.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

My wife thought so too but I didn't really see it at first and thought he just felt sorry for Alicent, until the last episode.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Yeah I get he looked concerned for her but his mannerisms and overall presence seemed off. He has an agenda that he’s not overtly sharing (obviously), hence, creepy.

Idk what was wrong with me Sunday. I missed a lot including that Larys killed off his father and brother. Dude’s a creep but he’s interesting

Cheerio.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

If Alicent was smart she would immediately send Criston Cole in to take his head and be done with him. She is not smart, though.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Yeah, anyone willing to off their family just like that….hmmm. Perhaps not the best to keep close.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

It's weird because Harwin and Larys seemed to get along nicely. Guess Larys was just a shady little fuck who harbored resentment for not being first born, and a gimp.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Maybe he's a psychopath.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

I’d imagine lots of people are psychopathic in Westeros.

A theme of HOTD seems to be second sons. They seem to be the cripples, bastards, and broken things of this show. I suspect this was his motivator, possibly spurned by otherwise unfair treatment by his father. I don’t recall seeing Papa Strong and Larys interacting although it’d be strange if they had a bad relationship given Strong seemed like a genuinely good guy.

Cheerio.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Uh oh. Otto is a second son.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

So is Lucerys Velaryon, Corly's bother who said something to Daemon like "we are second sons, and must make our own fortune." He's a minor character though, and i'm not even sure about his name as it could be Jacaerys, his other brother from the book. At least I think it was one of those two, I may not even know what i'm talking about since I don't remember them ever saying his name or noticing him that much at all really.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Have you read the book? As I said in another post this show has a lot of good ideas, but it's convoluted and extremely clunky in its execution.

Apparently the book is a really dry read, bordering on unreadable.

I'll probably just get it and see what I think. A recurring theme seems to be though that if you read it you won't enjoy it, and it will just spoil the show.

Thank you for talking to me

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

I have read some of it. You won't enjoy it, and it's vague about a lot of shit simply because of how it's written from a non-reliable narrator perspective. Historical accounts are generally not very accurate on the details, so I expect a lot of reveals in the show that simply remain unknown in the book.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Tbh my enjoyment of this show so far is flaky and things only get worse after s1/2 usually.

I actually quite like Larys Strong tbh. He's a total cunt but he made that episode come alight, quite literally.

He's perhaps over egging being the big bad, but we'll see how this pans out.

Ps has anyone noticed that Larys Strong looks like Dane?

Thank you for talking to me

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

I wonder if there’s a reason. This guy has an interesting backstory, I’m sure.

Cheerio.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Villains usually do.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Maybe he's just a huge bitch.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

I'm hoping it's more than just that since villains seem to be better written characters than heroes. Not just with GRRM but just generally.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Big spoilers below.

They snuck an actual greenseer into the show and apparently nobody noticed, Viserys daughter whatever her name is. When Aemond is complaining to his mother about his lack of a dragon Alicent reassures him he will have a dragon some day, and the girl mumbles under her breath that he will have a dragon, but he'll have to close an eye to receive it, while playing with what appears to be a giant leech. She's probably performing some type of blood magic to make this happen for her brother.

This refers to how Aemond acquires his dragon, which probably happens next episode. He sneaks onto Dragonstone and bonds with Laenas dragon after he death, securing the biggest dragon in the realm for himself. This is refered to in the trailer when someone, probably Laenas daughter exclaims "they've stolen Rhaegal" or whatever. One of Rhaenyras children takes exception to this and Aemond loses an eye in a fight over it, and takes to wearing a sapphire in it's place. He describes the trade off as totally worth it, because he lost an eye, but gained a dragon.

I've never really payed attention to the girl before as she's only been shown briefly, but I need to go back and rewatch scenes she was in, because i'm pretty sure she was shown before mumbling under her breath, possibly making more prophecies.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Well, I would expect some of that since there's a weirwood in KL and I don't remember that in GoT. Probably a reason they git rid of it. 😅

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

Brynden Rivers, the Targaryen bastard who became Bloodraven, probably merged with the tree and moved it to the north. I expect we'll probably get that story one day after they wrap up HOTD and start working on the Blackfyre Rebellions.

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

They probably had weirdwoods all over Westeros in ancient times.

I wonder if it's on purpose that the name Larys is like a cross between Varys and Littlefinger?

Re: Larys Strong - greenseer?

GRRM has no imagination. That's why the books are littered with recycled names like Aegon, Joffrey, and Daemon.

I took that more to be like, common names, that every country and realm have. Like your Johns, Stephens, Davids, etc. I'm sure they had their Sunshine Poppy Seed type names too. 😅
