I agree with Shatner.

He was the star and these other characters, especially Sulu, were not. And for good reason. They weren't very strong actors. There is a reason why no series or movie was made with Takei the main star. It is so odd that they think they should have gotten more screen time. I saw Takei at a convention and he acted like he was THE star of Star Trek. He spent much the time encouraging fans to contact Paramount in favor of a new Sulu Trek series/movie. The fans there cheered him on. Of course, nothing ever happened because of it.

Star Trek TOS is the best Star Trek series I have seen. I have watched almost all of TNG (though I am watching it in order right now, finishing up season 4), half of DS9 and Voyager, all of Enterprise and as much of the new woke Trek I can stomach. I may go back and give the new woke Trek another try but i doubt it. Strange New Worlds is more woke Trek, no matter how they tried to market is as a return to the original Trek. The Cage is a very good episode, filled with interesting characters and they were almost all discarded in favor of the new woke Trek. What a wasted opportunity in favor of more woke Trek.

As much as I enjoy Star Trek, I know very little about Gene Roddenberry. I would like to think he would hate what has happened to Star Trek but maybe he would like it. Shatner knew him better than any of us.

I AGREE with you AGREEING with the SHAT! SCROLL-DOWN and you'll see MORE about the VARIOUS ST shows and films. Then SCROLL-DOWN after that and you'll see about other shows from the 70s and 80s. I LOVED and ENJOYED (ALMOST) ALL of THEM!

'Wizards and WARRIORS'. < NEVER seen, NOR heard of.

'MANIMAL'.

'AUTOMAN'.

'OTHERWORLD'. < My FAVORITE of these 80s sci-fi shows!!

'MISFITS of Science'. < Seen ONLY part of it.

'Shadow CHASERS'. < HAVEN'T seen this.

'The WIZARD'. < NEVER seen, NOR heard of.

'STARMAN'.

'OUTLAWS'.

'The HIGHWAYMAN'.

'PROBE' < NEVER seen, BUT COULD it BE my MYSTERIOUS Vocoder show OR film?!?

'HARD Time on Planet Earth'.

Quite a list! Such an unusual collection of shows.

I've heard of a few of those (Starman, Logan's Run) but seen none of them.

The Fantastic Journey is on Crackle, so added that to my list.

The complete series of Otherworld is on Youtube.

I bookmarked it for future reference.
