Luke Cage : I hope there's enough content for 13 Episodes

I hope it doesn't Peak 10 episodes into its first Season like Jessica Jones did

Netflix needs to learn that not everyShow needs 13 episodes. We need more Bloodline's and Orphan Black's.
10 Episodes is enough. If you have a simple straight forward story

I actually agree. I love the marvel Netflix shows but they lose some steam at times. Jessica Jones and Season 2 of Daredevil , for me, got a bit tiring at the end of their seasons. I understand that every show needs filler episodes to push the story along but the end of the season should be the most engaging. Hopefully Marvel doesnt blow their load in the first few episodes of this season.

Orphan black is only doing 10 cause it takes way longer to film since Tatiana Maslany plays many characters and sometimes in the same room together.

Imo 13 episodes is a perfect amount of episodes.

13 episodes is good amount. If the OP thinks 13 is a bad amount of episodes, then watch the Flash with 22 episodes.

I think the OP means that a great 10 episode story may become a boring one if you expand it to 13 episode.
if a story only needs 10 ep then make it 10, audience would be OK with it, if the story do needs 13, then 13 is a perfect amount. the point is that it should be the story decides the amount.

I like Jessica Jones very much, but to be honest I think it doesn't need 13 episodes, 12 or 11 would be enough, especially Netflix release the show all at once, they have no need to create extension stories like the show runs for a whole season like the Flash (I'm not saying it's bad, they are just different kinds of show).

Delicacy should be the point for a Netflix show imo.

I think they have learned that. However I'm not sure if the original deal between Marvel and Netflix still has 13 shows for the four solo characters and 8 for the Defenders.

But yes, they (Netflix) have so much more freedom that it has to be a bit odd almost for people that are used to writing for TV or even films. No set episode length, no set number of episodes per "season", no need for commercial breaks.

I fully expect that before long they'll be much better at just letting the story dictate all of it. We may see a Netflix "season" that ends up being 7 episodes varying in length from 42 minutes to nearly two hours depending on each story.

I mean, why would you try to do a "two part story" across two episodes on Netflix like TV shows often do? Just do one long episode.

Actually, Netflix series are sold (or whatever they do) to TV stations around the world in countries that don't have Netflix. In my country we just got Netflix like a year ago(?), so house of cards for instance was being shown at FOX(!) before it hit Netflix Weekly basis just like a regular show. So as a stream of revenue they have almost the same format as a regular TV show so stations in countries without Netflix can use them.
