Film Art and Cinematography : If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

It's symbolic, simply giving in to human indulgences as opposed to trying to live a chaste life with the sole purpose of a hope that there might be a better "life" for you after you die. It's about the "here and now."

Like any other "religions," there are always extremists who warp the definition and intent. I'm sure it exists somewhere, but I'm talking about the established Church of Satan and the Satanic Temple.

They should come up with a name change unless they like being mis labeled and judged wrong.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

No. That's the point.

What are the sins of Satanism?

The sins of Satanism are also basically the converse of central values. The sins of stupidity and herd conformity leaves you open to manipulation, while a Satanist should be striving to master his own fate.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

They want to be misunderstood?
If that is the case then they have to be careful with who they share it with or be prepared to give a lengthy explanation. Again.
Like this is not the thing to bring up in a job interview.

I understand and I get it.
Just not everyone else will.
Like they call them "Satan worshippers" in movies and TV shows and they do not mean this group you are talking about.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

I know so much of this can be created wholly within my mind and a person can't become scared without giving their consent, I suppose. But I know that in a way Anton Levy is just very theatrical, but I can't help but be creeped out by somebody who would even want to go there. I spook easy. And I haven't read in the book in forever, so I can defer to your knowledge and perceptions.

I just don't know what to think about all this. I remember reading where Anton's copy of Jayne Mansfield's picture in a magazine got accidentally cut off at the head. Probably an urban legend. I know that she wasn't decapitated like they used to say. I guess what it comes down to is I believe it because I choose to believe it. So much of it comes down to faith. I do think people are capable of incredible darkness and I do think that people who take themselves too seriously can be dangerous. Anton seemed like he loved attention.

Thanx to Lilith I understand that Satan worship is different than Devil worship.

That's easy…the early release revenge of the Jedi poster!!!

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

Are you a big fan of the movie as well?

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

You mean I Saw What You Did! or JAWS 2?

If one of those, then yes absolutely.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

I'm not really into hanging posters on my walls, but this looks like a fun place to visit.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

That was a fun tour! Very impressive collection. All of those horror films and then "Oh, Heavenly Dog!" lol

I had the "Fright Night" poster. I'd completely forgotten about it. Of all the movies here, "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" is my favorite. It's so underrated. I love Tom Atkins.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

"Halloween III: Season of the Witch" is reserved for every Halloween. We love it!
I think it's underrated because so many Halloween fans want nothing to do with it if it has nothing to do with the man in the mask.
Personally, I think it's even better than all of those sequels. The story is far more interesting than 101 Ways To Kill Teenagers Having Sex.

I doubt it would have been underrated if they would have ditched the Halloween III, and simply called it Season of the Witch.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

I agree. "Season of the Witch" is a great title!

It's just so different and odd, but in a really fun way. The atmosphere is great. I love when it's like 6 or 7 in the evening and JLC's voice comes over the downtown speakers telling everybody to shut their doors and have a good night. She did a good job with the monotone voice. That's a fun movie to watch every Halloween. I think it has a small cult following.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

James Woods was really good in that movie. Not a very likable character, though.

I didn't know it was based on a real person. He was slimy. A real creep.

I see that Alex Rocco is in that one.

Woods managed to give him a sympathetic edge too and that is to his credit. That Oscar should have been his.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

You really think he was that good? I only saw the movie once and I don't remember it too well.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

Yes! I watched it several times.

It is one of the best political exposes of corruption in Central America. Far better than the drudge of Under Fire.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

The only thing I know about "Under Fire" is that it was directed by Roger Spottiswood, who directed my favorite slasher, "Terror Train".

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

He directed And The Band Played On - '93 too.

Spottiswoode is a pretty good director, but I didn't find Under Fire - '83 all that compelling a watch. It comes across as a bit dreary. Salvador - '86 had more vibrant characterizations and appeared to have more a statement to make. It also makes an emotional impact.

I find it is one of Oliver Stone's best films. It was in your face like Boyle's camera and personality, but that was its point too.

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

I have several hung up in the TV room of my house. Part of it is cut off unfortunately.

Hey Diddler, Diddler….the cat and the fiddler LOL

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

You have quite a collection. JAWS is the best one for me. Seeing that hug shark on the wall would freak me out a little bit.

These are my movie posters.

"I Saw What You Did!"
"Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?"
"Female on the Beach"
"Trash"
"Jules and Jim"
"Polyester"
"X, Y and Zee"
"The Horror of Party Beach"
"Homicidal!"
"The Exterminating Angel"

Re: If you could own one movie poster, what would it be?

Yes, I prefer this one too. I never even saw it until the internet. It was either the water skier with the shark image behind her, or the menacing fin in the water at sunrise, which I do like and do own.
