Horror : Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

The Exorcist! Yes, I definitely agree.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

I'm more in "The Omen" camp.

Terrifying image. My blood runs cold.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Gruesome. I'm glad I stopped watching horror movies.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

From The Blair Witch Project. Might be a spoiler.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

I did not like that movie. For one thing, I am not a fan of the shaky camera work.

But, the image you posted is definitely the scariest part of the movie.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

For one thing, I am not a fan of the shaky camera work.
I got nauseous from it.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

I found that movie boring and just watched a bit here and there.
When I saw the ending or of that image I was like, "That was it?"

It did start the trend of the concept of "found footage movies," though which I am not too sure about where as you mention the shaky camera work and we never get a real clear shot of the monster like in Cloverfield.

It is always something scary or creepy. We never get like, "Our Family Picnics" or a rom com as found footage.

How is that creepy?
He is just standing there taking a leak.

I don't know if you've seen the movie or not, but it's definitely a creepy scene.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

I responded earlier, I think to you, of what I saw of the movie.

She goes into the basement of a house and sees that and is screaming and stuff.
Just his back.
How is that creepy to you?
It's not like he turned around and we see his face deformed or covered in spiders or something.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Well, from what I remember of the movie, this scene comes at the very end and plays on some scary folk story that was told earlier in the movie. We knew that the boy standing in the corner doesn't know what's in store for him in the very near future, but, of course, the audience does. I think it was maybe the final shot in the movie.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Yeah, I saw something like that in the YT comments attached to that scene.
It is creepy because of the screaming and your imagination.
And I think we presume that she is also doomed.

It is creepy because of… your imagination.

A classic. For what it is, "Halloween" is a perfect movie. It practically defines the word "Nifty"

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

It was a simple premise and skillfully tapped into our fears in a grounded, relatable and moreover stylish manner.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Yes. Carpenter kept things very simple here and it worked to great advantage.

Right now, I am watching "Sisters" (1973), creepy image below. Have you seen this one, Toasty?

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Yonks ago! I would have revisit to give a more informed opinion.

Kidder is usually always worth it. There was no airs and graces with that girl. She is the quintessential Lois Lane.

Imagine Streep attempting to play a character like Kidder does in Sisters, or don't imagine it, because she wouldn't be able to pull it off.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

….the song is haunting. The implications make me shudder. Brrrrr….

We lay my love and I beneath the weeping willow.
But now alone I lie and weep beside the tree.
Singing 'Oh willow waly' by the tree that weeps with me.
Singing 'Oh willow waly' till my lover return to me.
We lay my love and I beneath the weeping willow.
A broken heart have I. Oh willow I die, oh willow I die.

I have only seen this film once and need to revisit.

It appears to be a song of lost love and holding onto something that was never permanent to begin with. What aspects in context makes you shudder here Mr. H?

Have you seen Jacob's Ladder - '90? Its all about realization of predicament and letting go.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Excellent question!

The song is in keeping with the storyline. The idea of "love" that can go too far and it becomes entirely unwholesome. And the fact that Miss Jessel should be so devoted to somebody as sinister as Peter Quint. It's like he had her under some dark spell. Love shouldn't end in all-consuming grief. If it does, something else is going on. Sometimes the ability to move forward escapes us.

I've never seen "Jacob's Ladder". It's never really been on my radar, but realization of a predicament and not fighting it could be very provocative.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

I don't recall much of the story at all and will need to review for context. Isn't Kerr's character dead and trapped in limbo?

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

No, that's not this movie. Being trapped in limbo would be horrifying.

What movie is the first one from? I know I've seen it and I know I saw it within the past year. There was some dark comedy.

The second image does not seem familiar to me.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

The original Pet Semetary

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

That's right. Thank you. That movie was so-so for me. The dad was a good character. The actress who played the mom acted like she was in a whole other movie.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Her name is Denise Crosby. She's Bing Crosby's granddaughter.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Really? That's interesting. Did you know that the actor who played Bill from the original "Friday the 13th" was Bing Crosby's son, Harry?

Bing Crosby is alleged to have been a cruel, sadistic father.

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Yes, I remember Harry from Friday the 13th. His character chopped the snake in half with a sword.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Ha! Yes! That was probably his most memorable part. He was likable and cute, but he didn't have a lot of screen presence. His father probably beat it out of him.

Brenda is my favorite character, followed by Sandy, the waitress!

Funny I am listening to "I Know What Boys Like" by The Waitresses.

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

That waitress in FT13th was so mannish looking and sounding, like a blueprint for Dorothy Michaels.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

like a blueprint for Dorothy Michaels.
————-
omg, you're right! Down to the eyeglasses! (or as Dame Edna liked to say "Face furniture"!)

And also Dorothy and Sandy are both lovable characters. Even if Sandy only has about a minute of screen time. Her only other role was as a policewoman in "Alice, Sweet Alice". The actress was from New Jersey and both movies were filmed in New Jersey (I think), so I guess that's that!

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

I never like Bing Crosby. Can't stand to look at him, not much physical appeal, and his singing voice is crooning cringy to me. He always came across like a projected image of saccharine phony.

He may have made and ideal partner for the one and only Mommie Dearest.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

Once again, we are in total agreement. I have never liked anything about Bing Crosby. No, he is not pleasing to look at. He has not a trace of masculinity. His singing voice is technically above average, I suppose, but without any character or feeling. And I also didn't care for the persona he projected. The fact that he beat his sons shows that BC was a MF phony bastard!

Even his name annoys me.

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

I never knew that!

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

It says that "Pet Semetary" is SK's best-selling horror novel. I would never have guessed that. I wonder if that is accurate?

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

I think that was just hype for the movie at the time. Of course, I suppose that everyone has their favorite novels by him, so it could be a matter of opinion.
Personally though, I think that he has written far better books than Pet Semetary.
Another thought might just be that when they say, Best Selling Horror Novel, it means that it was on the Best Sellers List at the time. Whew! I hope that clears that up.

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

It makes sense.

I did a little searching and "The Shining" consistently gets cited as King's best selling book. No surprise there, I guess! Though, "Pet Semetary" was ranked as his fifth best-selling book on one site and his third best-selling book on another site. "The Stand" and "It" and "Carrie" also come out on top.

"My life is over. I might as well dance with Johnny Slash!"

Re: Post a film image that is very creepy to you

The Stand is my all time favorite King Novel. 11*22*63 is a close second.
