Economics, Business, Money, Finance : Can an employer enforce the following policies to its hourly paid staff?

Can an employer enforce the following policies to its hourly paid staff?

– No more overtime. All hourly paid employees will now receive a straight salary (their hourly salary multiplied by their standard hours), regardless of whether or not they worked over their standard hours and/or worked over 40 hours.
– No more using the restroom while on the clock. All employees must punch out to pee/poop.

FYI, this establishment is a law firm.

Re: Can an employer enforce the following policies to its hourly paid staff?

is it that if you work over hours without your boss saying it's okay you won't get paid? About punching the clock to take care of business I guess is okay because you're not working and since it's a law firm they know this stuff is legal.

Re: Can an employer enforce the following policies to its hourly paid staff?

You should be paid for any hours worked. And it's cheap to have someone clock out to use the restroom

Is the overtime optional?

Re: Can an employer enforce the following policies to its hourly paid staff?

the hourly employees are being changed over to salaried employees. salaried employees get paid the same amount of money if they work their straight hours or over them. It looks like they can do it the cheapskates.

Yes but I am asking if working OT is mandatory or if you are allowed to leave when your shift ends despite how busy the place may be?

Re: Can an employer enforce the following policies to its hourly paid staff?

there is no OT. You work how many hours you work through standard time and if you work over them you just get paid salary and no more. so you have a salary rate for a 40 hour week and if you work 43 hours you just get paid the same 40 hours and no more. if they want you to work late you get paid the same 40 hours.

Re: Can an employer enforce the following policies to its hourly paid staff?

Then make sure you do not work over 40 hours? what idiot would put in for OT when it is not paid?

Re: Can an employer enforce the following policies to its hourly paid staff?

I wouldn't if they were keeping my rate of pay the same.

Is this the law firm you’re the boss of, PE?

Re: Can an employer enforce the following policies to its hourly paid staff?

wait, YOU are PE?

Re: Can an employer enforce the following policies to its hourly paid staff?

He wants to run it by the filmboards law experts first before implementing this policy to see if it checks out, so he doesn't get in trouble.

PE is a terrible lawyer and CEO, an even worse human being.
