True, and politicians rarely mention "the poor" either. It's always "the middle class" and sometimes "the working class" who they talk about and pitch their BS to, but they'll hardly ever mention the poor or the homeless in their speeches. The poor don't count for much in America, even though more and more Americans are becoming poor and destitute.

If I was advertising meatballs, I'd do something like that, and end with the actor telling the director, "These ARE great meatballs. I've eaten 23 of them for each take, and from now on, I demand to be paid in meatballs!"

Advertising is meant to sell you a fantasy so you can convince yourself your life will be better if you buy a product. Why would anyone want to fantasize about being poor? It's not a good marketing tactic.
There are some commercials with poor people though, mostly for charities trying to guilt you into funding their executive team's range rovers.
