Friday the 13th: Part 2 : Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

I really think that "FRIDAY THE 13th: PART II" is 1 of the Best (to me at least) "FRIDAY THE 13th" Movies in the Entire Franchise.

What does everybody else here think of it ?

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

Also, Out of all of the characters in the Movie.

My Number 1 Favorite is "Jason Voorhees".

My Number 2 and 3 Favorite Characters are "Terry" and "Vickie".

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

It's a worthy sequel to the first film. Amy Steel makes for a great, resourceful, and appealing final girl. I also love Sackhead Jason because he looks like some hillbilly killer who lives in the woods.

Yes, this is really me.

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

Agreed!

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

If you don't mind me asking you this question, What is your own Number 1 Favorite Scene in the Movie ?

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

The scene in which the guy in the wheelchair gets killed always makes me wince. It's probably the most brutal and upsetting kill in the entire film.

Yes, this is really me.

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

What about in terms of the entire series? Is there one kill in particular that stands out to you as being the most brutal and upsetting?

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

I gotta go with wheelchair guy's death in part 2 because the guy was just about to get laid when Jason snuffed him. Jason could have at least given the guy fifteen or twenty minutes to get laid first before offing the dude.

Yes, this is really me.

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

LOL, Agreed!

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

Apparently, they actually cut about 2 seconds of footage from his death scene.

They actually do a side by side comparison of his death scene in the Movie in this video below.

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

I've always liked it. The first three Friday the 13th films are my favorites. There's a certain atmosphere to them that's lacking in the later entries. Perhaps it's due in part to the first two films being filmed in New Jersey, which is where Camp Crystal Lake is supposed to be located. Subsequent Friday films were filmed elsewhere (mainly in California, I believe) and it shows. Part 3 is my personal favorite though as it features the scariest Jason and memorable characters like "Shelly" and the biker gang; it also has the hottest women in the series.

For me, the series really "jumped the shark" in Part 4 when Jason came back to life in the hospital morgue. From that point onward the series just got more ridiculous and Jason just wasn't scary anymore.

Oh, my favorite characters from Part II:

Ted Bowen, the smart one. He survives the night by bar-hopping.

The one and only Crazy Ralph… "You're all doomed!!!"

And Mr. Potato Sack himself aka "skinny Jason" …Honestly, how did he bulk up so fast in Part 3 which takes place only days after the events in part 2?! I'm beginning to believe that there were two Jasons.

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

If you don't mind me asking you this question, Where did you find all of those photos from the Movie at ?

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

I just did a Google image search. Just type in "Friday the 13th Part II" or the names of the individual characters and plenty of images will come up.

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

I need to rewatch those! Haven't seen them in 20 years. I loved 1&2 equally back then. I was a kid when they first came out and it made summer camp terrifying!

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

I had always wanted to go to see Summer Camp.

Did you really go to Summer Camp and if so then what was it really like if you don't mind me asking you those Questions ?

Re: Friday The 13th: Part II (1981)

I did go to summer camp! Parts of it were pretty fun, but we did not have the kind of roaming freedom that you see in most comedies about camp.
I went to two summer camps, but only one was an overnight camp. I assume that's the only one you are interested in. The camp I went to was in Central Massachusetts. My family was quite poor but the summer camp had scholarships so my siblings and I were able to go. They ran the camp in 10 day sessions. I went to one session per summer for 2 years when I was 11 and 12 years old.

The camp was set up in 4 villages. Younger girls, older girls, younger boys, older boys. I think each village had about 5 cabins. There was a counselor (17 or 18 years old) assigned to each cabin, but I swear my counselor never came to our cabin at night. I think she was always off with her boyfriend. But that was okay because then we could stay up talking late into the night. There was no electricity in the cabins. There was a cabin with two bathrooms and it was so scary to walk to it during the night. Everyone always brought a friend with them. There were no showers. We had a long outdoor sink with freezing cold water to wash up in. All the villages were separate from each other and you had to walk through the woods to get to them. The only open field was around the dining hall.

The dining hall food was always awful. You could always smell the insides of the glasses when you were drinking and the smell was terrible. I will always remember that. But we all bonded over the terrible food. I remember one of my cabin mates eating her toothpaste one night because she was so hungry!

We would wake at sunrise and do activities throughout the day like kickball, arts n crafts, and hikes, and swimming in the lake. After dinner, we had an hour of free time to hang out around the dining hall. There was always a line at the tether ball. After dinner, the whole camp would be together for a huge campfire where we would sing songs and counselors would tell stories.

Once per session, we would have a dance and a talent show. It was kind of funny to have a dance because everyone was really smelly from swimming in the lake every day and only having cold water to wash with. Plus nobody had cute clothes or make up to wear to a dance. The talent shows were mostly people singing or dancing, but sometimes there would be a skit.
