History : Devil's Night - October 30th

Devil's Night - October 30th

Devil's Night got that particular name after anti-police riots in Detroit led to a tradition of setting fire to local buildings and dumpsters year after year, as was detailed in the 1994 movie The Crow. The first fires were set during anti-police brutality riots in the summer of 1967, but over the years, pre-Halloween arson in Detroit became a sinister epidemic in the motor city that had little to do with organized rebellion. Instead, the fires turned into annual acts of vandalism that authorities struggled to control for decades.

Couldn't happen to a sweeter city.

Great music, but the city is a pit.

Do you think Devil's Night should be made into a national holiday?

Re: Devil's Night - October 30th

It would be funny though, kind of an anti-holiday. I only heard of Devil's Night a few years ago. It started in Detroit but now vandals and reprobates allover the country are copying it.

I'm one day late. This is my time of year. Been busy doing real life stuff, so consider this a belated post:

"Not today, Satan!" – Blaire White

Re: Devil's Night - October 30th

Though it's a hooligan's night, it might have some metaphysical and occult significance. I'm seriously trying to determine what that may be?

Re: Devil's Night - October 30th

I get the gist of what the mayor is probably saying, but I'm not watching that thing. Can you sum it up for us?

Re: Devil's Night - October 30th

That was from 1984. Pretty sure Mr. Young blamed it on the white folks.
