Why did she wear turtlenecks? It wasn't even normal turtlenecks it was some weird double chin ace bandage *beep* and it was annoying.

I was wondering the same thing! Maybe she has a new scar or something? Cut herself shaving..

It made sense for her modern fashion it was her look. But they even used it in the strange flashback sequence, and it looked ridiculous. Did MM get a neck tattoo?

It was ALL I could look at in every scene. They should subtitle this "The Woman Who Hated Her Neck" because it's so obvious what she is doing!

Yeah, something really "off" about the turtleneck. It's beyond what a normal turtleneck isthis goes all the way to her chin, even around the backit's just under her ears and goes up to the hairline on the back of her head. It's very odd, distracting and stupid looking. I agree that it must be hiding some unhealed surgery scars from her weight loss. I don't see it being a "character" thing at all, as some of the other posters on here have suggested. It would have been referenced in the film at some point if that was the case.

Michelle Darnell is vain, and it is a way to disguise a double chin, neck fat or a crepey throat.

I think that the costumer was trying to disguise some sort of neck situation. Not sure what it was, but it didn't make sense for her to wear turtlenecks ALL the time.
