Film Art and Cinematography : Is it sacriligious to alter movie sound mixes in re-releases?

Is it sacriligious to alter movie sound mixes in re-releases?

In response to the thread before, about how it is sacrilgious to change old black and white films to color, I was wondering if most people think that the same holds true for sound mixes?

For example, if a movie like The Terminator (1984), which was originally mixed in mono, but now has a new surround sound mix on the blu ray… is that considered a desecration?

Re: Is it sacriligious to alter movie sound mixes in re-releases?

I thought I was the only person that felt that way. I never had a problem watching a film that was updated visually (except black and white films) or updated sound effects.
