Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood : Best movie of 2019

Best movie of 2019

It took some time and a few watches but… it grew on me! Best movie of 2019!

Salient post.

Re: Best movie of 2019

I loved it the very first time I saw it. However, it is one of those movies that one can watch multiple times and discover something new. Tarantino's movies are like that. That's one of the reasons I enjoy them so much.

You’re not wrong. The man is a genius and his work is littered with all sorts of complexities and cultural references.

The soundtrack was banger after banger. I listened to it non stop for a month afterwards.

I’ve seen the movie about 4 times I think.

2019 wasn’t bad for movies - this, Joker and The Irishman were all exceptional. I struggle to find many modern movies that I hold in high regard.

so right about the cultural references. The choices of sound track music is always a pleasant surprise in all of his films.
I enjoyed The Irishman. I haven't seen The Joker yet, but I will get to it. Looks good.

Totally agree with both of you! So sad that it might be his last movie. 😕

Re: Best movie of 2019

I think there might be one more before he gives it all away.

Yes, Quentin Tarantino still plans to quit making movies after he hits 10. Which means yes, this summer’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood could very well end up being the penultimate feature film from writer/director Quentin Tarantino. The Oscar-winning filmmaker has long maintained that he wants to give up moviemaking after he hits his 10th film because, to his mind, a director’s quality of work only gets worse as they go along. Tarantino feels like he wants to leave behind an oeuvre without a single misfire, and so far he’s on his way.

I will have to disagree and say that Death Proof is practically in this category. It's not an awful film at all, just not as good as the others.

Re: Best movie of 2019

Like most of his movies, it was an experience rather than simply another film.

😺 Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't. 🤨 Let's go, Brandon! 🤨 Try that in a small town.
