I agree, but I think "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington" is right up there. I know they still watch it in American high schools, and it holds up very well today. I haven't seen "The Wizard of Oz" in quite some time.

I will always be of the opinion that Charles Laughton deserved the Oscar as best actor of 1939, and he wasn't even nominated.

If there is one scene in the movie to which I can point, it is his confused, heartbreaking attempt to communicate with Esmeralda in the bell tower.

Sure, Tracy was good in Boys Town. But Laughton was magnificent.

Goodbye Mr. Chips was one of the first movies I saw
