Dark : Finished Season 1.

Finished Season 1.

Not bad. Time travel always makes for a convoluted plot device, one that's been pretty overplayed over the years. But the show shines in how it ties the time travel elements into the world-building and characters.

The acting, for the most part, seems solid.

Its tone, atmosphere and cinematography aren't too dissimilar to the HBO Chernobyl miniseries, which is probably still my highest rated TV series.

A whole bunch of other comparisons could be made, but it does feel like its own thing.

Early on in the season's episodes, I made a prediction that who ended up being Future Jonas would actually be Future Mikkel. I was disappointed, at first, when this wasn't the case, but the last couple of episodes made up for this.

I have a feeling, from the short glimpse of the future that we see at the end of Season 1, that Season 2 might not be as good. The post-apocalyptic future and some of what has been teased about it seems fairly by the numbers, cliche and uninteresting.

I'd like to be proven wrong. But I guess I'll see.

Jonas and Mikkel aren't the only interesting characters, but they are currently the only likable ones.

Season 1 - 7/10.
