Directors : Movie Anomalies By Directors?

Movie Anomalies By Directors?

Richard Brooks "Looking For Mr. Goodbar" - it was so dark and dirty (and didn't like it)

If I hadn't seen the credits, I would have never though it was him, the man who did "Elmer Gantry", "The Professionals", "The Happy-Ending", etc…

Ken Russell’s The Boyfriend.

Re: Movie Anomalies By Directors?

It's very Politically Incorrect, bold, well-acted and intense but it's based on a true story.

A lot of films from the 70s are dark like that - Saturday Night Fever, Taxi Driver, Hardcore, Bad, Nunzio, The Wanderers etc…so it makes sense he'd go with the flow.

The Happy-Ending is dark subject matter, thou not as dark as Looking For Mr. Goodbar

Too Hot To Handle…irl

Re: Movie Anomalies By Directors?

"The Happy-Ending" is dark, but it wasn't exploitative, and I wasn't repulsed. I think the moral of the story was that money can't buy happiness. I think its a great movie. 10/10.

Last time I checked, it was on YouTube for anyone who is interested
