Was the Confedaracy a teror state like Isis??

Discuss.

First of all……

First of all, the word is "Confederacy". And secondly, no.

No! Certainly not.

It was just a misguided defense of evil. That's all!

Re: Was the Confedaracy a teror state like Isis??

Not at all. The South just wanted its independence from the North. In fact, the North was the aggressor and the "terror state", not the South. Even though I abhor slavery, I would've supported the Confederacy on the issues of self-determination and states' rights alone. If the CSA had won the war, slavery would've eventually ended because 1) European nations like France and England would've refused to do business with the CSA unless it ended the practice of slavery and 2) with the arrival of the cotton gin and other technological advances, slavery would've eventually faded away (machinery could do the work of slaves and it was much less expensive to maintain so the slaves would've eventually been set free).

There was no need for a costly and bloody war but Lincoln wanted to keep the South in the Union mainly for economic reasons — and, let's face it, he didn't want to go down in history as the president who lost half the country to secession! States' rights was the cause of that war, not slavery. The issue of slavery was secondary. The Emancipation Proclamation was the afterthought of an opportunistic warmonger… and racist to boot (see quote below).
