The Invisible Man : What laughably bad garbage

What laughably bad garbage

So bad it made me mad

Fair enough, it's about domestic abuse, how fun.

First off, you'd have to be a fucking idiot to think deeply about this film. There's no reading between the lines to see what this movie is saying, it's all right on the fucking surface… and that isn't even the issue with the movie

The entire movie revolves around the most frustrating cliche I ever see in any horror movie or film which can only be controlled through writing contrivances - that is the old "This thing is happening but everyone thinks I'm crazy" deal.

Every single moment our protagonist shares her experience with another characters, asking for help or whatever, there is just no logic. The movie just screams "ALL OTHER CHARACTERS MUST THINK SHE IS CRAZY" Like…. that's your movie, right there

Watch it - illegally. Don't pay!

The first 2 major contrivances happen in the first 8 minutes. A car is bumped into during a well planned escape, setting off an alarm. Not too bad. BUT THEN, a very plot relevant container of pills which we saw the protagonist carefully tuck into her bag just randomly fucking falls out for the antagonist to find.

That style of contrivance becomes the framework for the entire movie, everything happens in the most unlikely fashion to serve the story the moron writer director wants to tell. The worst example is a plot heavy restaurant scene… just wait for it

Very bad movie that has the nerve to take itself seriously.

7.1 on IMDB? MovieManCin2 should be ashamed.

He definitely takes ratings too seriously!

Re: What laughably bad garbage

It sucked in the same way most new movies do. It is rare and unexpected when a new release wows me. I'm mostly rewatching old favorites these days.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

Yeah.

I'm meant to be downloading a bunch of new movies for my gf's mum to watch during this COVID shit - problem is there's fuck all new movies worth getting for her.

You're nuts, ok, I get it.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

Likewise to anyone that reads my post.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

I figured it would be a floating turd from the previews, did you ever see Brightburn?

Re: What laughably bad garbage

Yeah. I didn't like Brightburn but I don't think it's on the same level of shit that Invisible Man is.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

At least Brightburn seemed a bit original.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

Definitely. Brightburn was alright, probably worth watching again sometime.

The Invisible Man though… I couldn't wait to get on here and rant about how crap it was

Re: What laughably bad garbage

They could of done a 100 different things with that and it would of been better.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

You are so wrong. The whole no one believing her goes hand in hand with a lot of domestic abuse. Unlike her a lot of abuse victims don't come out of it alive. If only someone would of listened. Its a modern update of The Invisible Man with its core message about abuse.

"It doesn't matter who hurt you,or broke you down, what matters is who made you smile again."

Re: What laughably bad garbage

Having an obvious core message that relies ENTIRELY on bad writing does not make a good movie.

I can easily and objectively write a fuckin' essay on why this is a bad movie, saying it's good because "people dont listen to women about domestic violence" is such a weak excuse for a horrible script

No witnesses or cameras during the restaurant scene?

Obviously. Because domestic abuse, right.

Can't rationally explain her situation to a singly person?

Of course, because domestic abuse. Right?

Her fat ass perfectly fits into the camera suit built for someone half her size and almost twice as tall?

Of course, domestic abuse.

So close to her sister but one angry email that is so suspiciously aggressive ruins their relationship?

Of coooouuuurse, because victims….

Sooooo clever

And why the fuck is the antagonist like a professional killer?

Oh well, he got over powered by a woman half his size at the end… that'll show them.

There was 0 artistic value to this movie, what you think was deep and thoughtful was actually just garbage to bait the lowest common denominator into thinking the film was deep.

Watch the IMDB rating drop with time. 7.1 for now, due to kids under the age of 18 voting it a 10 out of 10. It'll reach the mid to low 6's.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

Hi you cranky Aussie lol

"It doesn't matter who hurt you,or broke you down, what matters is who made you smile again."

Re: What laughably bad garbage

You are so wrong though

Very, very wrong.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

*sigh* the story of my life *slinks away* lol

"It doesn't matter who hurt you,or broke you down, what matters is who made you smile again."

Re: What laughably bad garbage

Re: What laughably bad garbage

Now this was a good movie about Domestic Abuse…

Re: What laughably bad garbage

I'll just stick with "I Spit on your Grave".

Movies about domestic abuse are hard to make, usually because the victims are entangled in a really frustrating and annoying situation that, in the end, they could just walk the fuck away from.

It's a common issue in real life but it's hard to get behind a character like that in a movie - and when they do, they usually have the woman escape and end up stalked by the crazy ex which is how they end up being stupid.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

Very true.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

I Spit on Your Grave is garbage. I have no issue with gore, but it has to mean something thematically. The gore here is gratuitous. This is not a film about domestic abuse; it's torture porn. The people who watch this movie are not looking for heavy symbolism and deep reflective thought; they're fascinated by blood and guts and torture.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

If you’re looking for symbolism or deep thought provoking shit in a movie as on the nose and stupid as The Invisible Man then you’re a fuckin’ moron

Fact - I Spit in your Grave is garbage but still manages to have less story contrivances than The Invisible Man.

And there’s hardly any gore in I Spit on your Grave. What would you call that, like soft-core-gore-porn?

Re: What laughably bad garbage

this movie is so bad. it literally is just a girl running away from and nervously looking around her house for her ex. that's all that happens in the whole movie! wtf? and they even repeat a person getting their neck sliced while sitting at a dinner table.

lukejbarnett

Re: What laughably bad garbage

God, that first neck slice was so bad.

It's funny how both scenes were heavily contrived as well

a - no way nobody would see that happen in the restaurant - also, security camera, the woman chose that place so killer had no clue what was there

b - second throat cut - first off its obvious what's gonna' happen - but of course, professional killer lapses into stupidity and stares at nothing, suspecting nothing while victim woman slips into a suit she couldnt possibly fit into - ever. That thing doesnt stretch, it's make of fuckin' lenses

Re: What laughably bad garbage

The movie is symbolism of abuse.

The entire movie revolves around the most frustrating cliche I ever see in any horror movie or film which can only be controlled through writing contrivances - that is the old "This thing is happening but everyone thinks I'm crazy" deal.

There's symbolism here for what women go through when the claim abuse, victims of #MeToo by men who are not invisible. They are often disbelieved, and thought to be crazy. The woman's husband may as well not have been invisible, and society would have thought the same. He was a rich, white, male scientist.

The man being "invisible" reflects his status as a rich, white, male elitist. He's "invisible" - untouched by the law.

I thought one powerful scene in the film was when the women pretended to kill herself, only to provoke him, and then he appears. Any other cliche villain from a movie would have been written as totally evil, void of emotion. Here, the villain wanted his wife to survive, despite his abuse.

And it was genius we never saw the abuse, either. When women claim abuse, we don't see it then, either, we only hear their stories. We never saw the man abuse her once, yet, we believe her. Or we can think she's crazy.

The woman walking up the stairs and the end was reflective of the glass ceiling through which women have a difficult time climbing; here, she rose above, holding the power. She also intimidated the black cop into concurring her story that the husband killed himself, because she had the invisible suit. The movie ended with the woman having all the power.

Brilliant movie.

It's not without fun, either. There were fun moments such as the action scene after the wife stabs him with the fountain pen, and he starts glitching; the scene that followed with him killing the police and hospital employees while glitching was fun.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

What a terribly retarded opinion

It’s good if you like your provocative shit to be as deep as a dehydrated puddle of air. Every scene was frustrating in a story-teller perspective because every fuckin’ scene is contrived and idiotic with unrealistic behaviour from every single character.

I could sit here and debunk each point there but I’ve already wasted enough of my time in this contrived nonsense.

Re: What laughably bad garbage

Also, for a film that takes itself so seriously - he police killing scene wasn’t too fun.

While running a company and secretly developing sci-fi optics tech where did he get the time to become a more professional killer than Rambo?

Oh but it serves the story the writer wants to tell.

Like… I struggle to remember a single thing in this movie that seemed to happen organically. Every single character interaction, event, drama - every moment seemed to have some kind of blaring contrivance.

Damn, man.

So dumb that you think this movie was genius

Fuck your doxxy behaviour - THIS is the major note that’s off in your internal symphony
