Resident Evil: The Final Chapter : Why does Alice sound American, but Alicia does not?

Why does Alice sound American, but Alicia does not?

I missed the part that explained that.

I mean, they go through great pains to explicitly and pointedly state that the little girl's voice is recorded, and yet both "young adult Alice" "old adult Alice" and "hologram little girl Alice" don't share an accent.

Re: Why does Alice sound American, but Alicia does not?

For me,they both have american accent,i didn't hear any difference in their language.

The extraordinary is in what we do,not who we are

Re: Why does Alice sound American, but Alicia does not?

Because the original Red Queen had an accent and it's obvious Paul did not come up with the "Red Queen is actually a hologram of young Alice" until.about a year or two ago so they had to have Milla's daughter speak "like her father" (Paul and his English accent) because they can't have Red Queen with an accent then all of the sudden have an American accent in her last appearance.

Also, MAYBE we could go with the excuse that Alicia hates her accent and since she wanted her clone to not have to deal with the *beep* Alicia had to go through with her aging disease and also wanted her to have a nice American accent.

Well, 10ish years passed during the time she was a kid to the outbreak, so maybe she lost it growing up in the United States.
I forget, what accent did James have?

Isaacs is english, he designed and programed the red queen

Re: Why does Alice sound American, but Alicia does not?

They programmed her to have an American accent for her original purpose as the guard to the hive entrance at raccoon city.

just shows how terrible the movie is.

Re: Why does Alice sound American, but Alicia does not?

The implication is that the Red Queen always looked like it does in this movie. As these movies are years apart they can't reuse the same girl actress as she outgrows the role.

You can see it in Retribution's recap of the previous 4 films, when it comes the moment that is about to show Red Queen's holographic display from RE1, they cut to new footage they shot with the new actress, specifically to replace the old. Meaning, they communicate there and then, you are supposed to think that RE1's Red Queen always looked like RE5's.

Same goes for this new film that finally explores her backstory, you are supposed to get from that, that is how the Red Queen always looked.

And that's why the accent remains a constant throughout the films; if they could keep the same appearance as well, they would, but it's not possible.

The brief shot of Gollum in the first Lord of the Rings movie also looks a lot different than his appearances in the later movies, but you are not supposed to think that his appearance changed, merely that the look and technology developed further since the first one. Also in the Hobbit, there is a scene with Bilbo that was also in the first movie, but now played by a different actor. You are not supposed to think that there was a magic spell cast by a wizard that changed his appearance, merely that they recast the role to someone better fitted to play a character of that age, and the "canon" look is the new one.
