Actually, when you put it that way (Why DOES he provide a platform for us to troll each other) it strikes me that the motivation is exactly that which fuels almost all modern nationalistic politicians: they want to play a part in building a community that is in line with the ideals of prosperity, free speech, and civil society in general. I'm sure he will distance himself from such grandiose clams (or maybe he won't) but that may well be his motivation. Imagine, as a counter-example, administering a run-down site dominated by Ben and Steve Lake (I take those names out of a hat: it could just as well be Ian Brady and Myra Hindley)! It would seem objectively better to draw in brilliant posters who keep the place humming. The only exception to that would be if he were running some sort of front, like a laundering operation, and actually wanted a failing site.

In any case, asking why he would want to do what he does comes unpleasantly close to asking what a prof (some highly educated dude like Orson, say) is doing posting rubbish on a message board. Some questions simply shouldn't be asked.
