The Soapbox : My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

I saw this coming, I’ve lost sleep over the idea of one of us catching COVID-19.

We’ve all been hunkering down inside, ordering groceries, sanitizing everything that came into the house but my 78-year-old MIL decided it was fine to go to a private worship service in at someone’s house last week and on Monday she started having flu-like symptoms and finally was tested yesterday (along with my wife who started showing symptoms Thursday).

Both are high-risk due to age and/or health issues. Now my wife is staying at my MIL to care for her and stay away from us.

I’m already worried we’ve all been exposed. I’m now carding for a 2.5-year-old and 3-month old twins by myself and if I get sick or the babies get sick wtf do I do? What if my wife and MIL get super sick and can’t care for themselves?

This is such a mess and I’m SO angry with my MIL and also so worried about her. She is very sick.

Stay inside!!!

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

I’m so sorry to hear this is happening to your family. You are doing the right thing by quarantining away from your wife and MIL. I hope you and the kids stay healthy and I hope your wife and MIL come through this.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

Mother-in-law. My wife’s mother.

We have about 1000 confirmed cases in our city. It’s incredibly difficult to get tested so we were told it was actually 5-10x that…

What city, are you in NY?

Bring. More. Sheep.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

No, thank God.

I think they have like, 65,000 confirmed cases.

I live in a major city in Texas.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

I didn't realize Texas had been hit that hard.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

We haven’t been hit hard yet. City officials say the peak will be mid-June. We’re on lock-down until May 20th for now but will probably be extended.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

Yeah, we have almost no testing available in our area unless you get hospitalized

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

It’s a bitch here too.

My wife and her mom really lucked out and were able to get tested fairly easily.

Hoping your wife and MIL pull through the worst of the virus and come out healthy on the other side.

Since you had close proximity to them, were you able to get tested at all?

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

I’m not able to be tested but started showing mild symptoms Saturday and I’m running a low grade fevers. I have nausea and no appetite. Nothing else.

Treating it like I’m sick. Hardest part is trying to care for three young children alone and not infect them.

My wife is super sick and so is my MIL. No hospitalization. Just feel terrible and bad fevers.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

Rockadee, I’m so sorry.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

You've been through a very bad patch. I'm so sorry about your MIL, but very glad your wife is getting better, and you and the babies are uninfected.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

I’m so so so sorry. Unbelievable how one seemingly innocuous decision cost her her life. But this is testament to why it’s so important that we take care of each other by staying inside. May she RIP. You and your wife are in my thoughts.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

There is a a 25-30% change I got a false negative.

My symptoms could have also been seasonal allergies that triggered my asthma that triggered bronchitis.

As of now I was diagnosed with bronchitis. Haven’t had fever, chills, body aches, lethargy or loss of smell/taste.

Just dry cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing which since I’m asthmatic isn’t abnormal.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

I'm so sorry, RockaDee. To lose her over the decision to go to church must only compound the grief. I wish you and your wife safe healing, and hope you can reunite soon. I'm glad your babies are doing well.

So, so sorry for your loss. You’re in my thoughts and prayers, and if there’s anything I can do for you, please do not feel shy to reach out. We’re here for you, Rockadee.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

I got my antibody test done on Friday. I was suppose to get results this weekend but nothing yet.

Wife is still symptomatic but doing better. Once she’s no longer sick we will wait about 14 days and be reunited. Playing it extra safe because my twins were premature.

So hard to watch her grieve and not be able to hug her. She still running low grade fevers and has no taste/small but was put on antibiotics for pneumonia and is feeling much better.

Re: My wife and MIL have confirmed COVID

My wife is better and we she moved back in on Monday.

She’s been fever free for a week and got another test yesterday and it came back negative.

Once she’s fully healed she’ll start donating plasma.
