Health & Fitness : Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

I saw 3 different people wearing them in this moderate sized grocery/supermarket. Saw one guy pumping gas with one on, too.

Any one else noticing this trend?

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

Trend? Ppl are sceard of the coronavirus dude, if you believe internet news its actually killed WAY more ppl then they say in the actual news, like 24,000 more!

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

It's still a trend. I wasn't using the term as a pejorative. Even without this virus, some wear the same mask because they don't want a flu. I don't blame them, I'm just wondering how prevalent this is in the US. An American has already died from this, I don't take it lightly.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

I'm in Los Angeles and I have seen Asians do that for years. It's not new. I just thought Americans are smarter than Asians. That ain't gonna prevent them from getting any virus.

i guess it can't hurt.

It can't hurt except for the fact it makes a fool look like a paranoid anal retentive little bitch.

That's what I told the surgeon just before the operation.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

Are you telling me all these masked Asian dumbfucks at the supermarket are surgeons?

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

Nope but why do surgeons wear those stupid masks?

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

Duh, because they're in an operating room and the patient needs a sterile environment. What does that have to do with shopping in a supermarket?

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

Yes it's to avoid spreading germs. It's funny how a race that apparently throws their shit around the place try to avoid spreading germs.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

I suppose in the squalid environment in which they live, wearing a surgical mask makes sense.

This is a good time to start mass producing masks with nice happy faces on them.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

I asked her if she liked it.
She said "Stupid movie."

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

Actually that looks terrifying.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

If I ever feel the need to wear a surgical mask every time I walk out my front door, it's time to move to a deserted island somewhere in the Pacific.

Do you ever see non-Asians wearing masks nowadays? My brother was just there and was surprised how dirty it was. Homeless, etc.

Is there a ton of movie museums, etc?

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

I've never seen a non-Asian wearing those masks. Like any big city the old core is mostly slums. The middle class people live in the suburbs close to the ocean. About half of LA proper is Hollywood. Hollywood is old and decadent and filled with strip clubs and Asian immigrants.

What's the name of that Los Angeles park that is often in movies? It has a large pond or lake in it.

Griffith Park is a huge park near Hollywood. I would guess they do a lot of filming there.

Thanks. It was actually Echo Park I was wondering about. I was watching a movie and I recognized seeing this park before. Anyhow, the main character finally mentioned that he was in 'Echo Park'. Most of the movie took place in the park.

It's close to downtown and the Mexican barrio, but that area is becoming 'gentrified' by white folks now.

You'd be surprised how much filming goes on around here. There's an arboretum near me where they were filming a tv show the other day.

I don't know any successful screenwriters. I do know a guy who acts in background scenes. He'll just walk past the main actors, or sit at a table in a restaurant in the background. He makes a decent living just doing that.

Do you know any writers who make something even minimum wage? I'm wondering if the market is too saturated, thus filtering out anyone who doesn't have a degree, or a successful script, etc.

I don't think a degree is necessary. Hollywood is one place where talent trumps education on paper.

lol

There is no cashier or grocery bagger or stock person equivalent for writers. You asked "Can a talented writer get a paying job?" and then you downshifted into "minimum wage" and "who doesn't have… a successful script, etc." You're not describing someone with a marketable talent, or any talent. Everyone who gets a high school degree can write, should be able to write better than most people online can. If you could not sit down and write a spec script that would wow people, then no, you cannot get paid to write for the entertainment industry. Why should you?

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

I think making them out of a sturdy transparent material would help because seeing the whole face would quiet that part of our brain that says something is off when people are wearing masks.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

They should just make flesh colored ones, like bandaids, so everyone can just look like a creepy face without a mouth.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

Who cares about looks. If it prevents a simple flu, THEY win.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

Like I said, dumb paranoid Asians here have been wearing those masks for years. I doubt it has much impact. If I ever feel like I have to wear a mask every time I leave the house, it's time to buy a shack in the woods and become a hermit.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

It doesn't prevent the flu. It can help you not spread the flu, maybe. I doubt those masks are very effective either way because Asian people swear by them yet they keep getting all the flus and viruses so I guess the masks suck.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

Ok then, someone being responsible and not spreading germs.

Re: Americans Wearing Masks At Supermarkets

I've seen it. Coronavirus scare is what it is. My town had a scare with a college Chinese student. Turned out to be a false alarm. But people freaked out in the mean time. Yes, I have seen the masks.

even China is reporting that its much worse than the SARS (how fast it spreads) :(
