Do you put your car in neutral when stopped for too long?

When you’re at a long red light or waiting in the drive-thru line. I heard it’s less strain on the transmission. Even more than park - “park” forces the transmission in a certain position, but neutral essentially disables it.

I have a hybrid and will turn the engine off if it's running, leave it in PARK if it's not. The difference between PARK and NEUTRAL probably varies from one make to another.

Putting it in neutral during long stops is only advantageous if you have a manual transmission. It causes less wear on the pilot bearing.

Apparently, stupid people don't know they're stupid.
