The Godfather : Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

He almost got his brother killed, but some feel sorry for him? If you do, why?

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

Ya

He was the stupid but lovable brother

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

I sure did. Fredo was dumb, but sweet.

Yes, this is really me.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

mike was not the man vito was, vito never would have killed family, he would have made sure he never had the opportunity to work in the cosa nostra again, but he never would have killed him.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

agreed

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

Can you imagine if Vito was still alive when Michael put the hit on Fredo, and Vito found out Michael did it? I wonder what he would have done.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

Agreed!

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

I do. He was just a bit slow

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

seems like he was more weak than slow

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

weak and impulsive. I see him being a lot like frank pantangelie that way more then his siblings.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

If anyone was impulsive it was Sonny!

Sonny was heir to the family business before Michael. But it was his impulsive decisions via acting on emotion that got him killed, whereas Michael was calm and patient.

Sonny would get mad at come after you immediately. Michael would plan out your death 2 years before he executes it.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

true, but no one would have stood up to Sonny

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

true, but no one would have stood up to Sonny

Sadly, there were people who did stand up to him. Carlos had an axe to grind so he went to the enemy for help. The enemy had their own axe to grind. Nothing personal against Sonny. It was strictly business.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

I did feel sorry for him. As others have said, he was sweet, but slow. He had a different self image. He was Michael's older brother. He saw himself as one who deserved as much, if not more respect. While he loved Micheal, he wanted the things that his younger brother had. A loving wife, kids to love, a prominent place in the family.
Sadly, he never thought about the consequences of his actions.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

And he was passed over, despite being older.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

Right. That was something he couldn't understand. He saw himself in a different way than everyone else saw him. He never understood his limitations. I think that is something that many people take a long time learning. Some never learn.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

exactly! he was no dumber than a guy like frank pantagelie, but he thought he deserved the big chair via birth right rather than abilities. Even pantangelie said that he himself didn't have the head for complex deals.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

He was cunning when it came to catching fish, though

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

Is he the guy who tried to get out but got pulled back in bruh?

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

Uhh, that's…Michael.

Re: Did anyone feel sorry for Fredo Corleone?

Yes simply because he looked so weak and harmless. Plus, it was his own brother who ordered the hit on him. I know he made a mistake which could had cost Michael's life… but it wasn't intentional, while Michael knew the outcome.
