The Magnificent Seven : Why is faraday such a douche

I get that he's pretty full of himselfbut the fact that he talks down to everyone (except denzel Washington who he seems to respect) made me wonder what the guys problem really was. Was it simply egoor was it some other reason

He's a gambler. He's a man with wandering eyes. He is disreputable. He makes a lot of jokes where the jokes don't stick but he says them anyway. He's a drunk. He respects Denzel because wants his horse back.

I've known several people, including family, that behave the same way. Some of those people were also quick on the draw so you had to watch them when they played cards. "Draw" meaning fists. There was never an issue of guns; just an issue of tempers.

But we merely quarreled and we are friends again.

He's a douche because that's what he is. A douche. That's the character. No reason. Just a douche.
