There are some women who like and watch porn but the majority of customers are men.
She was just too sophisticated or classy for a movie like that.
It also was to show just how much different they really are.

Re: i thought Betsy was a progressive, liberal woman

I think it's a major contradiction on how she appeared to be liberal, open minded, and skanky but when it came down to it was all an act and she was really conservative and she secretly didnt like Travis because though she dated him and took his gifts we never really see her kiss him, give him gifts, or compliment him. So he wanted to Fuck? Isnt that obvious? Is that a bad thing? If she really liked him she couldve gave him a chance, tried to help him, or maturely tell him that was not okay or that she didnt like that. Instead she acted like a little school girl lashing out at him( for what? his desires?), shining him, and stone walling him for what really an inner conflict she had within herself. He was just provoking it to come out. The thing is that, society really indulges, and protects women and these issues they have within them as when Travis made it public, to which, to me it was painfully clear but instead of focusing they just ignored it and made Travis the enemy. All he wanted was to talk and clear things up but instead they attacked him and shhushed him out. For what all he wanted to do was to talk to her and confront her for what she really trying to do wasnt right and over something that is really silly and nonsense.

100% right.

I could never pinpoint her contradiction but I finally have. I never liked this about her and goes to show how insane she really is. Basically driving Travis to kill the politician because of the insane contradiction in the hope to end this madness. I think this is an example of her driving him to insanity and him wanting to end it. Him wanting to end this side of him and life that was painful, rejected, and made him mad. Though he sort of cured her in the end. She wasnt really deserving.
