Star Wars : Star Wars Episode IX : the Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars Episode IX : the Rise of Skywalker

What direction do you think the franchise should take in the next film? Episode 8 got a lot of hate for unrelenting plot holes, killing off the big villain without a fight , and predictable storyline.

This next film needs to focus on the Rey vs Kylo vs Hux three way conflict.

I don't know what direction it should go…but I feel the direction it ultimately will take will be one of franchise disaster.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX : the Rise of Skywalker

Interesting. They’re supposed to be building up Rey as the next great Jedi , but Luke’s entire point in the first half of the last movie was that the Jedi shouldn’t have entitlement over the force. The Jedi legacy is failure, and the Jedi should end.

They veered away from that point entirely in the climax of the film. Why? They should have built Rey up as the beacon for the resistance and not another Jedi.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX : the Rise of Skywalker

Well resistance… smugglers and other non Jedi lore just doesn't sell as well.

What you're realizing now is what many older fans knew years ago. That is…Rian Johnson had no clue what paying customers wanted to see nor would he know how to deliver it if he did. He was a creator that was bankrupt of creativity…an imagineer with no imagination…just a round headed ginger with the full backing of a woman that has no business running a franchise she is clueless towards.

Now the facts are plain…star wars is in crisis mode! Lucas film is currently trying a soft reboot in the final act of a trilogy. It is a risky move that pits fans of Johnson's work
Against the rest of the rational world. My prediction…it will succeed in alienating both factions and underperform at the box office.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX : the Rise of Skywalker

That’s exactly what it is, a soft reboot. An interesting premise but so far , horrible execution.

But fans are going to watch it anyway whether they hate it or not.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX : the Rise of Skywalker

Fans will see it…but will they repeatedly see it? Don't forget that the Last Jedi hemorrhaged over 800million dollars from that of the force awakens. This was due to lack of rewatchabilty. First weekend was great… second weekend saw one of the biggest drop offs in cinema history.
If nine doesn't absolutely heal the rift I will not be surprised if it failed to earn one billion.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX : the Rise of Skywalker

The last Jedi made less money than the force awakens but both made a massive profit. I don’t think the drop off had much to do with rewatchability. People were starving for Star wars film when the Force Awakens came out. The Last Jedi was only two years removed so there wasn’t as much hype around it.

Sorry to disagree…but return veiews or lack there of is what determines US box office success in general.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX : the Rise of Skywalker

At this point nothing makes sense with star wars

Well, this is a tomb. I'll make them feel at home

Re: Star Wars Episode IX : the Rise of Skywalker

I don't care about Hux and the First Order. I don't know what they are and I don't think the writers do either. I don't know what the stakes are in the battle between the resistance or whatever they are now and the First Order. Both sides seem weak and irrelevant to the rest of the galaxy.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX : the Rise of Skywalker

Last part I agree with. Seems like they’re fighting a civil war and everyone outside it doesn’t care.
