Superheroes and Villains : Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield each managed to deliver exceptional performances through the Spider-Man suit, with the elasticity through the spandex almost seeming to stretch out well to fit three different reincarnations of the character. It’s almost as if they are three different breeds of Spiders.

Tobey Maguire-While his physical appearance didn’t fully match a comic book description of Peter Parker from the original comic books, he pulled off the role very persuasively, even if his acting range did have a few moments where it fell flat into the monotone range. A lot of people criticize him for his acting in Spider-Man 3, despite how he did everything in his acting power to try to save the movie with the awkward script that he was given. His version was quite altruistic.

Andrew Garfield-His physical appearance kind of matched the proportions of the young-adult version of Spider-Man, with there being a slight touch of sardonic humor in his version. What killed the Amazing Spider-Man series was the unsettlingly unauthentic writing into Electro’s character that belonged in a high voltage neurotic fan-fiction.

Tom Holland-His version of Spider-Man has grown on me, even if he had to grow in to look the part in the suit.

My vote goes out to Andrew Garfield.

Rest are trash, brah.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

I actually didn’t feel bothered by that scene like most people did, even if it did feel out of place for a Spider-Man movie.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

People who don't like it are stupid.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

Agreed. It's probably one of the most feel good scenes of all time.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

Haters and nerds on the internet are not "most people". That scene was absolutely brilliant and not out of place at all. The same idiots who hate this scene/movie are the same people who love Spider-Man 2, which had an equally goofy and brilliant scene:

Yet that scene never received hate like the strutting scene in 3 did. They are hypocritical bandwagon riding morons.

Here’s something else that’s over the top:

Okay, that was actually kind of funny, lmfao.

I agree, as I think that Sam Raimi should have went through with Spider-Man 4 just to give us the finale that most of us wanted, but now any push for that is pretty much stashed away in a dark web of a time capsule in Norman Enterprise, with the tritium blowing up the series. Tobey Maguire will never be able to pull off looking like Peter Parker at this age again regardless. I was disheartened when I found out that it got cancelled because of a film that didn’t flop or even get horrible reviews.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

It didn't get cancelled because of SM3. SONY had a hard release date of May 2011. Raimi asked for a one year delay ( to 2012 ) to rewrite the script, and make it "better" SONY said "No" and then he quit. Without him, they decided to do a reboot. The really ironic part is that the reboot did not release until July 2012, anyway.

Oh, interesting. Was it like that for Marc Webb with the Amazing Spider-Man 3?

I think ASM3 ( and ASM4! ) actually were cancelled because of ASM2's bad reviews.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

Agreed. Well the Garfield ones were okay but should never have been made. Never seen the Disney ones and never plan to.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

Tobey Maguire but Tom Holland’s version works well within the MCU.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

What about Andrew Garfield’s version? I feel like his success got overshadowed from the mediocre reception that the Amazing Spider-Man 2 received.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

I really liked the first one and disliked the second. My opinion of Garfield’s performance was affected by the films but I really had high hopes after the first one.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 suffered from the same faults that were written into Spider-Man 3, with the main one being that they had far too much discord from too many characters, with their being not enough time for most of it to actually play out. They could’ve trimmed out Harry Osborn from the Amazing Spider-Man 2, or introduce him in a cliffhanger, rather than derailing him into an being impetuously vicious under injudicious order against his friend, when Peter Parker was trying to aid him. Electro’s character should have been entirely revised from the type of stalker who went from dressing up like Peter to wanting to fry it three second, with him becoming evil within three seconds after figuring out his powers after becoming Electro.

Now to dissect Spider-Man 3’s flaws, it shouldn’t have been a soap opera with too many parts to create dysfunction. Gwen Stacy felt like the hatchet that was used to create adversity between Peter and Mary Jane, as she fell in love after getting saved and cheated on Eddie Brock, and then Peter shoved her aside. Harry Osborn and Sandman were well written though, but the Amnesia subplot with Harry Osborn was completely unnecessary. They should have had a cliffhanger that set Venom up as the villain for the next movie, and introduced Gwen. The plot’s focus should have been centered around Peter, Harry and Sandman.

Overall, neither were bad movies, but they were certainly let downs that deserved better. The action scenes and visual effects hold up well though.

Andrew Garfield's up until the second movie.

Tom Holland doesn't act like Peter Parker or like Spider-Man to me.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

What a dumb question. The Raimi/Tobey version duh. It's no contest at all and should go without saying.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

I've always been fond both of Maguire and Garfield. Maguire sort of made a mockery of the character in the third film, likely by no fault of his own, but Garfield looked too old and jaded to be innocent, wise-cracking teenage Peter Parker.

Of the recent films, however, I have to admit that "Into the Spider-Verse" has been my favourite Spidey adaptation.

The 2002 movie is the best of all the Spider-Man movies.

I’m going to have to respectfully disagree with you there, but to each their own, in all fairness. Spider-Man 2 managed to take the elements from its predecessor and expand on them, capitalizing upon what made it successful, while bringing us a visual masterpiece with a more upbeat villain. I might be biased here since I preferred Doc-Oc over the Green Goblin in the comic books.

Re: Which live-action, cinematic version of Spider-Man did you enjoy the most?

Spider-Man 2 was just a ripoff of Superman 2 with Peter Parker being a whiny little sally the whole movie.

But, like you said, to each their own.
