I'm being sarcastic. They now claim there are about 50 genders, not two. Yes, they claim transsexuality is a gender and there are about 20 genders classified as transgender.

He should be locked up and put in a straight jacket to stop him from hurting himself. And any doctor who cuts off his genitals should be imprisoned for sexually mutilating an insane man.

He's asexual so that's not an issue.

He can still maintain his extreme body modification look without going that far.

Right now, he's got a very specific look and it sounds like a lucrative career with his look (to afford these many procedures, yes, it's got to be lucrative).

There would need to be some type of deeper reason for him to be taken seriously than going to a surgeon and asking for your genitals to be removed so you can better resemble "an alien."

Re: What does it mean to be "pansexual"

I saw him talking to Roddy in there.

I'm fine with someone doing what they want to their body. They are the ones who need to be pleased with what they see and how they feel.

This is unchartered territory because without transitioning, he is, as his sister pointed out, mucking about with his hormones, and no one knows what will happen. Let's suppose he finds a doctor to do this (maybe in Thailand or Korea), what changes happen to his body? What if he changes in the opposite direction of what he's looking for?

I think if he didn't have this desire to "be an alien" I'd try to take him a little more serious. That's where he lost me.

You've known me for a bit and you know I'm liberally minded in this area. But this is not making any sense to me.

Re: What does it mean to be "pansexual"

When I was in LA County Jail (yes, I've been a badboy), they have several huge gay dorms where they house homosexuals. They separate us for obvious reasons.

In with the normal gay guys, they also house the transsexuals. There are many trannies mainly because they prostitute themselves in Hollywood. They all had male genitals, they just tape them inside their thigh. Lol, I know, you can't make this crap up.

Most of them did not want sexual reassignment surgery. They take hormones to develop breasts, but they obviously prefer to have working genitals.

Basically, I have no problem with a man living as a woman, if that's what he wants, his body, his choice. But I draw the line at genital mutilation.

We are appalled at Muslim nations for performing clitorectomies. And we do not physically castrate criminals. I see it as a crime against humanity to perform genital mutilation. Anyone who wants their sex organs cut off is insane and not competent to make that choice.

Re: What does it mean to be "pansexual"

I actually don't have a problem with people who transition, including SRS. Again, their body, their choice. We can't be inside someone else's head, and we cannot decide what's right for them. We also don't have the right to.

And yes, I remember you talking candidly about jail.

I'm just having a very difficult time accepting this particular situation.

Re: What does it mean to be "pansexual"

This poor soul is a very extreme case. But he illustrates the problem. Do we perform any type of surgery on any human being because they desire it? There is a mental illness where people want a healthy limb cut off. Where do we draw the line? I say you don't cut off healthy organs.

Identify with whatever gender you choose. But don't ask society and the medical establishment to legitimize genital mutilation.

Re: What does it mean to be "pansexual"

I disagree. It's their body. Look at the amount of plastic surgery done just for Hollywood. At what point, and who gets to decide, what is "too much" and what's "acceptable?"

Putting foreign objects into our chest muscles or butt seems acceptable mutilation. Removing "excess skin or fat" that's healthy tissue is acceptable. Face lifts and thigh lifts are all just dandy.

In some country people get leg or toe lengthening.

I cannot even begin to fathom what some people do. Look at body modifications, where people put all sorts of objects whether it's disks, gauges, rings or piercings through various parts of their body. How about tattoos? How about our famous "cat lady"?

I see so much extreme surgery and society just shrugs it off.

Why would you take a personal interest in another person's gender or genitals if it's not someone you're involved with or potentially have any interest in getting sexual with?

I feel the same way about people trying to say being gay is unnatural. Says who? Generally the crazy extreme religious right, that's who (the very ones who are committing crimes behind the pulpit).

Re: What does it mean to be "pansexual"

Of course people should be able to choose a gender role they prefer to identify with. A man wants to act like a woman, go for it. Perhaps that in itself is not a mental illness.

But isn't one of the fundamentals of mental health that you accept yourself as you are? I can't help but believe there is some deep seated self hatred in people who hate their own genitals.

Science cannot transform testes into ovaries and make a real woman who generates her own female hormones, menstruates and can become pregnant. Until that day comes these are still biological males. And chromosomes will tell.

You did not address a person who wants a healthy limb removed? There are such people who hate their own limbs and want them removed. It's called "body integrity identity disorder".
David had just graduated college when he first decided he wanted to cut off his leg.

It had plagued him for years. He considered it “alien,” something not part of his body, and even propped himself on his “good leg” to avoid using it.

He locked his bedroom door, fashioned a tourniquet out of baling twine and an old sock and propped his leg up against a wall to stem blood flow.

Two hours later, the pain too intense to continue, he released the binding. His leg would live another day — but not, he hoped, for much longer.

David and others like him suffer from a rare psychological condition called body integrity identity disorder, where they sufferer desires to amputate a healthy limb. The majority of BIID sufferers are middle-aged white men and the most commonly requested amputation is of the left leg.

https://nypost.com/2015/09/06/this-strange-condition-makes-people-want-to-hack-off-a-healthy-limb/
Should we be catering to this type of body dysphoria rather than giving them psychiatric treatment?

Sorry, but I can't help but draw a parallel to genital mutilation.

Re: What does it mean to be "pansexual"

I saw one of those guys on Phil Donahue or something. He cut off both his legs and was in a wheelchair. He got one leg "saved" on his first attempt and he went right back and cut it off again. I think he used a saw, I don't recall, it was ages ago.

If you're going to label someone who wants to remove healthy parts of their body, as I stated in my post, what about the massive and oft bizarre things going on for the "beauty industry" with plastic surgery? How about the "designer vagina?" Yes, that's a real thing, along with penis enlargements.

It doesn't change gender, but it affects healthy, living tissue.

Are all those Hollywood celebrities mentally ill? (I realize that's sort of a loaded question). But they're doing it for cosmetic reasons to appear the way they want, using their own money.

If someone wants to change their gender because they, personally, feel their body doesn't match what they feel their gender is, what business is it of anyone else's?

Adults who genitally mutilate a child should be shot.

An adult who chooses to have SRS is making their own decisions about their own body, not affecting the genitals of an infant before they can consent.

Re: What does it mean to be "pansexual"

But hormone treatment and breast enlargement are not close to genital mutilation. A nose job is not castration. It's a matter of degree.

I think this is the fundamental problem. When transsexuals undergo genital surgery to cut up a penis and make it a pisspoor facsimile of a vagina, or vice versa, they are conforming to society's gender roles.

We will all be truly liberated when a woman can have a penis, and a man can have a vagina. It's about acceptance of reality. It's a form of oppression that transsexuals are told by society they can't accept their body and be themselves unless they undergo genital mutilation. Why?

Do they really want a different set of genitals? Most the trannies I've known didn't. Or is society and the medical establishment telling them "you must have this set of genitals in order to be yourself"?

Because as of right now, one cannot legally be addressed within the medical field as male or female unless your genitals match your birth certificate. Without SRS you're forced into a label because of body parts, not your identity. And you can't get your birth certificate changed without SRS.

I only learned about this because of Julie Vu.

As a woman, I'm quite happy with my lady bits, so I'd imagine if one truly feels like they are a woman, they'd like to do what they can that is within their means to get as close to that as they can, and this is one thing that is possible, whatever that is for that person.

PS: I edited that for a whoopsie I made.

Yes, so I wonder if this is more an issue of the government and the medical establishment and the media enforcing adherence to their ideas of gender, than the longterm fulfillment of what's best for the individual. They're conforming to the idea that genitals define gender. Isn't this the opposite of what transgender folks say?

Well, I'm not sure. It seems like at this point, it might be perceived that way. However, from what my limited experience tells me, this is predominantly a personal choice. Then, it's reinforced by things like these silly government mandates.

I have very mixed feelings about this because I can see where Jordan Peterson is coming from with regards to enforced speech. Then I can see the other side, where I don't think people should be forced to be treated in ways which conflict with their identity.

It's a mixed bag. By the way:

So I went on a date with this person, and on our first date, I didn't know if they were male or female, and I didn't care.

^^^^^That is pansexual.

It sounds like you're saying pansexual is a fetish for androgynous and transgender folks. It's akin to someone who really loves blondes. So pansexuality is still a subset of bisexuality. But like I said, it's more a fetish than a sexual orientation on the level of homo, hetero and bi.

No. Having a fetish means you get sexual arousal FROM something very specific.

I suppose if you were aroused by not knowing the gender, that might be considered a fetish, yes.

Just clicking with someone and it not mattering if they're male or female is more about a chemical connection, and actually disregard for genitals as they don't matter and aren't part of the selection process. They're incidental and you're okay either way.

Bisexuals knowingly get into relationships, intentionally, with women, or with men, knowing in advance and making cognizant choices.

Pansexual *can* infer that you frankly don't care about the genitals, but you care *more* about who the person is.

No, I must differ with you.

If you're saying that pansexuals are indifferent to sex, and not aroused by a guy's junk or a lady's vagina, that might make sense. But they are aroused by their genitals and bodies.

And I'm sure that a pansexual can be completely non-romantic, not give one whit about their sex partner as a person, and yet be aroused by their bodies.

Sorry, I don't see it. Pansexuals are merely bisexuals who will have sex with trannies. It's not a sexual orientation any more than a preference for blondes is a sexual orientation.
