Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Get yourself some vanilla syrup and a Coke๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

I wasn't really here. It was all in your head!

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

I was spoiled as a kid and got to experience a REAL Vanilla Coke, made in this quaint little country store that had a real soda fountain. Once you've had the real thing, nothing else compares.

I don't like the Coke-zero either, (regular or vanilla, - they both suck).

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Is it true Coke is better in other countries because they use real sugar and not that nasty corn syrup? I wonder why they don't use sugar here?

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Because it's cheaper to make it that way. It definitely tastes better with real sugar.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

I would love to find some so I could compare.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Mexican coke sold in glass bottles is easily found in the US.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Yes, it's true. If you've ever had Coke made with real sugar, you can really taste a difference.

It's cheaper to use HFCS than real sugar, sadly. But yes, it definitely tastes much better.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

I am going to have to hunt some down.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Once in a while I see it in the regular markets. It's hard to find, but it comes out periodically.

Mexico has it. Russia too.

Isn't it funny that sodas used to always be made with real sugar, until, like everything else, formulas were changed to be "new and improved" (read: CHEAPER).

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

If you have to have sugar the real thing is better then corn syrup. Just have it in moderation.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Yep. I agree completely. I don't have any refined white sugar in my house (nor any white flour, or white pasta). I do use coconut/palm sugar, or things like date syrup, molasses, honey, maple syrup. Never became a fan of agave. I know stevia is really popular, but any artificial sweetener tends to give me dreadful headaches.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Stevia is a plant I thought. Supposed to be like 50 times sweeter then sugar so a little goes a long way. I am considering agave for my coffee. That is where I use sugar the most.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Yes, stevia is made from leaves. It's too bitter for me, and I don't like it.

How much sugar do you use in your coffee? There's only 16 calories in one teaspoon.

Agave is natural, sweet, but I just don't like the taste and feel of it.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

like 3 *walks away in shame* lol

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

LOL. You silly bean!

There's 10 teaspoons of sugar in soda, so you're still faring okay. But hey, if you like stevia, then go for it! I know a lot of people who really like it as a sugar alternative.

Have you tried it?

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Not yet but at least I cut out soda intake and stick to water or tea. I may have a soda like once a week.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

I think you're fine just the way you are! lol

Don't sweat the small stuff. Like you said, it's really about moderation. A soda once a week isn't bad at all.

Back in the day, my vice was Diet Pepsi. I used to buy that stuff by the case. Ugh, I can't believe I did that!

I've never like any brand of cola but if there a fruit based soft drink a available I'll join in.

Re: I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

Nosiree! Anything with artificial sweetener is a no-go for me.

My mother used to love that stuff, and Tab. Blech. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

I'm not really a soda drinker, but I'll drinks 4-5 litres of seltzer water. Once in a while, I'll fancy a well-made root beer or a ginger beer.

But ohhh, my, my…I wouldn't turn down a real, authentic vanilla Coke.

Good for you! I've been a high-volume water drinker for so many years. It's easy, and enjoyable. I don't wait until I'm thirsty to drink, and that's part of the success. Plus, I just like it.
