Re: Let's take a moment to ponder how good Interpol are
God, you really annoy me with your amazing music taste, fat frank!
Agreed, Joy Division are better, but Joy Division are like one of the top 10 goddamn bands of all time.

Oh bro, you like The Killers? They do nothing for me. Not sure I'm digging these Future Islands vids either.
I can't wait to go to this London festival with The Strokes and Interpol.
This was the Strokes in Scotland when I saw them last:

The Strokes and The Libertines are like the two true commercially successful rock bands of the last 20 years my nigger.

Saw Editors live at T in the Park many moons ago. I think they were the support act for Queens of the Stone Age. It was day 3 of the festival, I was feeling terrible, but Tom Smith- the lead singer - absolutely destroyed it I was fairly mangled on MDMA and three days of boozing lol.
Interestingly:

Interestingly:
Smith's vocal style has been compared to that of post-punk singers such as Ian Curtis of Joy Division, Paul Banks of Interpol, Robert Smith of The Cure and Michael Stipe of R.E.M.. Smith's vocal range is baritone, but he uses falsetto to reach higher notes. His use of falsetto was prominent on Editors' third album, In This Light and on This Evening. He mainly uses Gibson ES-335 when playing guitar,[17] whilst also playing a Fender Telecaster Custom. Smith has stated that most of Editors' music begins with him composing on his piano or his acoustic guitar.[18]

Re: Let's take a moment to ponder how good Interpol are
They're like a poor man's Joy Division. They were, but I don't get that from the song Ser Trevor McDonald posted. I always thought the similarities were more in the vocals than the music. The singer seems to have dropped the pre-suicide guttural warbling of their debut album and opened up his range a bit. Some of the guitar parts in that song are distinctly early-2000s and in particular reminds me of the opening of Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Float On by Modest Mouse. No doubt it showed up in a The Strokes song as well. I think the word to describe the sound is "jangly".
