Has Arnold Schwarzenegger ever given an Oscar-worthy performance?

IMO his best performance was "The Terminator" when he only had 17 lines and was expressionless the whole time. His resting bitch face fit the part. His lines were delivered in the same sinister monotonous deadpan that fit the role. The accent worked, he unintentionally sounds like programed machine. He didn't have to do much, but his performance there was flawless, even if the performance was practically accidental and Schwarzenegger was mostly being himself. It worked out.

In T2, Arnold was given more lines and more expressions, so not as good.

In T2, at the end when he sacrifices himself, I had an attack of the feels. So I guess he wasn't that bad.

Well, the nature of the scene was emotional, I wouldn't say his performance. It wasn't so bad that it came off cheesy, nor was it mind-blowing. It was neutral at best. All he had to do was say "I know now why you cry, but it is something I can never do." and put his thumb up. Bruce Willis and the Rock could've done it equally as OK.

IMO he delivered the line "I have to John, I have to go now" with too much emotion. He delivered it as a human would.

It wasn't "good" per se. He didn't pull a Sean Penn Mystic River.

No.

😺 Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't. 🤨 Let's go, Brandon! 🤨 Try that in a small town.

Not Oscar-worthy, but some have been more than just all right.
