The Walking Dead : Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

This one is weirdly important to me:

1. Was that MoB's real pic at the end of IMDB?
2. Did she really sell her gitch (Canuck for undergarments) to a random businessman in 'Ontario' for over a hundred dollars?

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

1. I've no reason to assume it wasn't. The girl was pretty but not so attractive as to rouse suspicion.
2. I'm calling bs, same now as I did at the time.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

I am totally on the same wavelength.

Weird weird story to tell, though, if bs.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

It probably was her pic. She was a full-fledged psycho, though, so I assume her underwear selling story was a Gothic fantasy. Maybe a severed head or an empty suit of armour made a powerful bid on her soiled undies?

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

IIRC at the time of her mentioning that supposed occurrence she was doing so to make some greater "men are pigs" type point, but there's no way you'll convince me on TWO separate occasions that men dressed in "business attire" approached her and offered $200 (or any amount) for her undergarments. I'm not saying I don't buy this can or does happen, but if you're approaching women looking to make such a shameless offer—with all due respect—would you not select the most attractive person available? Even if you struck out 9 of 10 times, that's a lot of money to just decide "screw it, anyone's will do." Maybe I'm overthinking this.

I can't say for sure it didn't happen, but she was really stretching it with not once but TWICE, and throwing in the "business" get-up was a way to make the transaction seem less sleazy and like she was approached by desirable men (I believe she also specified they were attractive). Even if we assume she slightly exaggerated the $ offered, still difficult to believe.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

I actually think she said the "business attire" bit to make it seem like ALL men are pigs, not just the ones you expect.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

I'll buy the shorts you soiled when Anthony Smith knocked you the fuck out for $5, pussy. Send them to Gameboy's house.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

I agree with the honourable Shogun. It was some sort of point about how even respectable powerful men are both pigs and slaves to their passion.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Exactly. Though I do think what Dmitrije said is accurate too, I think it was more to lend credibility to her claim about men in general (though it did the opposite). I understand if she didn't want people to say "that has nothing to do with you, it was just some scumbag," but she wasn't even making the claim it was because she was attractive. In fact she might have even been trying to say despite her being average or whatever and casually dressed, on top of him being a successful dude, it still happened because men are pigs. I don't think she even cared to signal she was desirable all that much. Way too angry to care about such things.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

I disagree with the last few sentences (as well as with everything else you've ever typed). Her final weeks on IMDb, after changing her avatar to her pic, were spent flaunting her desirability and going so far as to say everyone was suddenly nicer to her because of how attractive she was (she said this word for word). I admire her confidence in her perceived value, and maybe that was also just a ploy to show what pigs men are - but alas, fuck you.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

She really NEEDED to be told she was attractive. My demurring (initially) triggered immense rage.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Maybe once she got the attention, but she was really presenting it as "fuck all of you who said I was ugly!" She didn't seem to care about the attention other than to avenge her own previously tarnished honour. But before that she was constantly called fat and ugly by FRTT, Doodles, TSP, and the usual catty gang and just ignored it. (Although I will admit she seemed genuinely upset when Bentley called her ugly, even when he was just talking out of his ass.)

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

I genuinely regret that "Tony Jha" business. I tend to forget that young females attach tremendous importance to their looks.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Indeed, my good taco-flipper.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Lot of truth there, I think. She spent a lot of time going after men doing even a hint of ogling of women, and then in the last few weeks it was like 'see why I am like this?? It's tough being irresistible'

O I know, MoB.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

It worries me a bit that all the most interesting posters were quite unhinged (I gather Orson has made a similar point about me, the wretched faggot).

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Of course they were. Insanity adds dimensions due to all the time spent trying to cover up the insanity.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

It's a Venn diagram. Not all of the most interesting posters are the most unhinged, or vice-versa. Some are both. Some are only one, imho.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

That's a reasonable assumption. But it still strikes me as possible that all the really powerful posters (the ones who could get the whole board humming) were (at the very least) eccentrics.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Yes.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

There's one dude In Ottawa, where I live, on the General Disussion board and I will never meet him In real life, and I do not think that he is something special, but rather a person in need of help.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

My impression is that most dudes on the GD board are in need of help (possibly of the lethal injection variety).

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Most definitely. They're a sad lot.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

It's like this American Gladiators competition of creepiiness.

It's so bad, and Nimda, you are like God, we speak to you but we know that you are probably not listening, the creepiness is so omnipresent and inuring that that creepy and dumb autismo from Belfast can say whatever he wants about Twiz and it barely moves the emotional dial. Very strange.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

It's a bit unsettling to me that I'm so used to it now I don't even flinch. What a toilet. Soapboxers simply refuse to be flushed. Their trolls are also very, very bad. It's likely that the worst troll/poster on either GOT or TWD is infinitely more formidable than the best they have/had to offer.

Yeah, but it doesn't matter because Soapboxers have no boundaries. You don't need to be intelligent (or even competent) to post someone's personal info, but in most cases it's far more effective as a scathing, well-formed character attack.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Do you think the disgust with being treated differently due to her appearance was genuine though? I think it might have been. It was frustrating for her that men place such a high value on it, probably because she does enjoy the male approval (that's enough to piss her off), but didn't feel she received it for more authentic qualities and knows appearance is fleeting and not something she can control all that much - and you and Bentley were at the front of the "treating her differently" train!

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Interesting reading of her. Quite accurate, I think. Though I'd add that her disgust at being treated differently had a large element of secret delight. God, men are such pigs but thank God their piggishness is directed at me in the ways in which attractive women are used to!

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Yeah, I think you're right. She probably didn't like that about herself very much.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

I ACTUALLY never interacted with her, but once, I believe. The Night Watchman posted something about Alyssa Milano and breastfeeding in public I believe, and I who had had a longtime thing for her went woo woo still looking good Alyssa, and she/MoB ripped both of us a new one, at like 2 in the morning EST. And I got her point, but it was just way over the top, and btw I agreed with Milano's position: flaunt 'em if you got 'em, it's for the babes!….

I didn't interact with her because I thought that she was cruel about other people's irl kids. I am not hypersensitive about that because both my boys irl are rockstars, but I did not want to be associated with that,.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Isn't it interesting that she was originally a GoT poster, but hardly ever posted there, and then made TWD her home? Never could figure that out.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

I think that it was genuine. There is sad story or two there, somewhere.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

@Shogun (whoever this is). Just to clarify: I don't think I treated MoB "differently" when I discovered how she actually looked (assuming that was her). I made fun of her looks without knowing what she looked like (I assumed everyone would know it was a joke because I was so over-the-top). After she posted her pic I thought it would be very impolite to continue to poke fun at her. It's very strange that she should have read that as an indication of male shallowness! In fact, as soon as she made that claim I resumed poking fun at her.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

I think when you spend a lot of time being pissed off about something, you start seeing it everywhere. It's Klam, btw.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Hi. Thought you had turned your back on this board nonsense forever?

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

If there's anything we've learned it's that I never actually leave when I say I'm leaving.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Damn! I actually believed you this time. I'm so naive.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Yeah, yeah, you had a failed goodbye thread too you fucking nigger.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

'Ontario' is a giveaway, btw. It is like saying Appalachia or Mitteleuropa.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Very, very good point.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Lol. Now you are humouring me. You wouldn't know that unless you were from here.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

If this happened to me while I was in Seattle, I wouldn't say some man approached me in "Washington." So I assumed it was similar to that. Unless she was just in some tiny town that people wouldn't know, but I doubt that - she was likely in Toronto or Ottawa if it was busy, she was walking on the street, and she had a Starbucks nearby to duck into. She also had an issue with Canadian provinces before when trying to dox Bentley. She said something like Ontario, Ottawa, Canada when trying to be specific.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Astute.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

Good point. Two birds with one stone. All men are pigs. A man I met in Ontario was a pig. Therefore Bentley is a pig. QED.

Re: Board Mysteries Unearthed - Chapter 20

The pic was of an attractive woman.

But do you find that story credible? That a guy walking by would say 'Hey…you know what, I will give 200 bucks for your undies! Let's make this happen!' That was the story, there are multiple witnesses here to it.

On the morning of the 20th you'll be approached by a determined looking man donning an expensive business suit. "What a handsome devil," you'll wistfully mutter to yourself.

He'll stop as he's about to pass, giving you the head-to-toe once over, and plainly ask for the panties you're wearing. "F-ck off, creep," is likely to be your reply.

In response to this, I'll—he'll reach into his wallet and retrieve a large wad of cash, and through a loathsomely smug expression inform you of his willingness to pay well for them.

Both taken aback by the bluntness of the request, and amused by the persistence of the nagging, you'll take notice of the Starbucks just around the corner, glance back at the cocky but devilishly handsome weirdo—who at this point is making a show of flicking an imaginary speck off the shoulder of his Armani—snatch the $$$ defiantly, and begin making your way to the coffee chain just ahead.

"Bring me out an Americana on your way back, panties in one hand, coffee in the other – I don't want this exchange to look suspicious" he shouts obnoxiously, while pantomiming a deliberately inconspicuous "I hope no one heard that" glancing around him.

"What an absolute pig," you think to yourself as you enter the Starbucks, smirking with contentment at the prospect of so effortlessly netting some extra spending money. "And make it FAST, I'm on my lunch break." He yells so loudly from outside that the entirety of the coffeehouse stops and briefly stares.

Agitated by the ruckus being caused as well as the unreasonably long line at the register, you elect to blow off the coffee request—which you weren't convinced was serious in the first place—and beeline for the women's restroom.

Inside, you're hit with the harsh reality of the situation: whether due to the shock of this exact scenario playing out a third time, or the contrast between the attractiveness of the man and the distastefulness of his request, you seem to have forgotten you weren't even wearing panties.

Oh my, how unfortunate for you (and him).
