Classic Film : trying to find an old film, don't know the name

trying to find an old film, don't know the name

Thanx to some guys who told me two other threads to post this......

It was British, DBL Jeopardy genre. B/W, about a man who is framed for killing someone, one who befriended him at a bar looking for a victim. The guy framed him to collect insurance for his death. The subsequent conviction sent the man to prison for 13 years. He gets out and begins a relentless search for that man who framed him. He does find him remembering a small mistake the man said. The judges and prosecutors are all retired but attending an Englishman's club dedicated to these old legal types. At the meeting the man brings up the guy he was to have killed. Introduces and reminds all of his conviction and sentence he served. They remember. He then shoots the man in front of them all.

I can't remember the name or any actor in this film. I saw it maybe 35 40 years ago at least.

Thanx for any help for information on this.

Re: trying to find an old film, don't know the name

I don't know the film, but I have read a short story with an almost identical storyline. If I ever remember the title and author, I can search for the author's name and check his/her filmography.

Thanx, perhaps that is the book that inspired the movie. Would lead to the movie I bet.
