Favorite poet: Edgar Allan Poe

Re: Anyone here into poetry?
I like many poems, but Tennyson's - The Lady of Shalott is my favorite. It is written so beautifully. that the whole tragic story unfolds in my mind, as if I was watching a movie.
Re: Anyone here into poetry?
My favourite poet is Keats. My favourite work overall is "Mending Wall."

Great movie and I love the soundtrack.
Re: Anyone here into poetry?
Hi! Thank you so much! 😊 I missed you, my awesome friend! I was running low on Vitamin Kay! (I know, I know. Just awful)
I love your pic, as well, but I wanted to tell you that was a dope avatar of Kaneki you had just before I signed up. Tokyo Ghoul was crazy good. I hope the third season lives up the first two.
It's great to talk with you again! And Rouge as well!

Re: Anyone here into poetry?
I enjoy poetry, but I don't read as much as I'd like because it's so often over my head. I've read some Pablo Neruda, Michael Ondaatje (whom I learned of from an interview with David Foster Wallace), some Frost, Blake, a little Langston Hughes when I was a kid.
If I had to name a favorite, it would have to be Poe. He's the one I was most enamored with as a kid. I memorized and recited The Raven for my English class in middle school.
Favorite work would be a toss-up between The Raven, Invictus, and Jabberwocky.

Full fathom five thy father lies;
Of his bones are coral made;
Those are pearls that were his eyes:
Nothing of him that doth fade,
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange.
Sea-nymphs hourly ring his knell

Re: Anyone here into poetry?
I'm more of a prose dude, but I like me some poetry too. I like that messed up chick Plath. Blake is always an interesting read. Love Dylan Thomas. Big into Poe. Just like music and film, I can't pick one ultimate favorite.
Re: Anyone here into poetry?
Do you like Bukowski? You seem like the type that would enjoy his work.
I love his stuff. They call it poetry but it reads more like prose.

Re: Anyone here into poetry?
Yeah, but I haven't read as much of him as my favorite cousin and some of my friends have.
Seems like everyone I know loves the guy, and what I have read I have loved, but I don't know. I just haven't gone too deeply into his work… yet.

I think this was one of Byron’s.
My old man said be a City fan
And I said bollocks you're a cunt
I'd rather shag a bucket with a big hole in it
Than be a City fan for just one minute
With hammers and hatchets, stanley knives and spanners
We'll show the City bastards how to fight (How to fight)
I'd rather shag a bucket with a big hole in it
Than be a City fan
Altogether now…
