Do you disconnect your battery that often?

But think about how impractical this actually is. In the rare event someone wanted to hyphen gas from your parked car, but find out the gas door won't open, they'd keep trying to click it open causing lots of dents/abrasions there, before eventually kicking it or getting a weapon and propping it open, causing hundreds of dollars in body damage around that area. It'd be better to let them get the gas as easily as possible and only be out less than $30.
My stereo also has "theft control." It has to be programmed to the car with a code from the manufacturer before it will play. So if I were to disconnect and reconnect the battery, I'd have to enter the code again. But criminals who want to steal my stereo aren't going to know this. They won't know this until after they steal the stereo, put it in their vehicle, and found out it won't work. It doesn't deter them from stealing it, it just prevents them from using it from stolen. I'd still have the stereo missing from my car.
I feel like no common sense was put into some of these theft determents.
