Cult Films : The Warriors 1979 crime thriller
Re: The Warriors 1979 crime thriller
This is one of my favorites. But were the Warriors bad guys? They were a gang. I assume they weren't content to stand around looking tough. They must have at least committed petty crimes. And at the start of the movie they were about to join a criminal uprising to take over New York City.

Yes, they were bad guys. They would have committed small crimes only and were looking forward to expand by taking part in that gathering.

Just the best. And it's futuristic! When I was a kid, I thought it was pretty realistic LOL.

I own the novel and have read it. It's very different to the movie.
Just because I'm not on THEIR side, doesn't mean I'm on YOURS.

Fun movie. And Uncle Jerry plays the villain with the beer bottles. WARRIORS, come out and play yay
Re: The Warriors 1979 crime thriller
It is nothing but a joke with all these jokes of gangs.
Mimes?
Baseball fans?
The Warriors themselves?
That one of blacks who respond with, "Yeah, right!" who all wear shades and in the dark.
That DJ who somehow knows everything?
There is just no way to take this joke of a movie seriously.

Dude, it wasn’t supposed to be real. It’s considered surrealism. Get a grip
Re: The Warriors 1979 crime thriller
It is just one of those movies that takes itself way too seriously that it becomes ridiculous and silly to laugh at.
Re: The Warriors 1979 crime thriller
I like The Warriors, but the most ridiculous part is the ending. It wasn't exciting enough and needed to end with a bit of a rumble on the beach.
It was something that wasn't represented before, a stylized fable that was both contemporary and heightened with a controversial milieu as its backdrop. In context of its era, it is a very original film.
The director's cut enhances it as a graphic novel take on things.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?

I saw a screening before the pandemic and it was the most obnoxious audience ever shouting out lines and stuff. The Warriors is a masterpiece. Be sure to check the period doc 80 blocks from Tiffanies, they won't let me link images
