Comic Books and Comic-Con : Batman #43 and the ''real Bruce Wayne'' thing…

Batman #43 and the ''real Bruce Wayne'' thing…

I know it most likely will not last... I like this path to Bruce. Maybe not so much the amnesia, since that foregoes a lot of the effort that it would take for Bruce to make such a big change. But it is very pleasant to find out Bruce is alive and that he's working in a place that needs someone like him around.

Scott Snyder hasn't really sold me on his Joker stories, but for the introspective moments where we discover something new about Bruce. I like his characterization here, for Bruce finally becoming his parents' ideal son, just on his own instinct.

With New 52 on its way out, I genuinely hope they leave the characters where they are, like an elseworld event. But there were hints that point toward the scope of the character, referring subtly to the widespread appeal, multiple release, and never-ending reboots to the Batman. It's like he made his own Omega Sanction, where he lives forever, only to suffer more and more with each passing lifetime.

... Anyway, these are just some thoughts I had. I haven't really been following the series because I don't care for the more bombastic arcs.

I hope they kill Damian for good this time which will be just the jolt to get Bruce back into the costume and brooding again.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

Re: Batman #43 and the ''real Bruce Wayne'' thing…

Well, it's weird because there are two directions now. The Bruce who can have a future and bring Gotham into the sun, and the Batman who fought everyone to get his son back and won.

One is definitely going to win out, and I'm a little sad about that because I'd prefer the New 52 closed with Bruce Wayne alive, well, and not Batman anymore.

Re: Batman #43 and the ''real Bruce Wayne'' thing…

No. He should be DEAD. If not dead, than horribly scarred. I mean, Batman and Joker were a bleeding mess in the end. He could barely move and there was no more healing stuff around.

And THAT is where babies come from.

Re: Batman #43 and the ''real Bruce Wayne'' thing…

Batman dies enough in Elseworlds, and I get the feeling the New 52 is going that way soon, so I'd be fine if he just stayed this way and the New 52 ended.

Re: Batman #43 and the ''real Bruce Wayne'' thing…

I think the New 52 has officially ended because it's all 'DC YOU' now.

Starting to like this new Bruce Wayne angle, but not so hot on the new Batman.

I know it won't last but it would be good to have a different Batman, but who? Grayson is doing his own thing (which is great, by the way, in case you havn't read it), Jason is now a hero for hire, Tim and Damian are both too young.

Whilst I like the idea of clones running on forever and being Batman, I also like the idea that the mantle gets passed down the generations. One thing I loved about the old JSA series was that you had some older classic heroes training the younger generations of heroes and the sons and daughters of those that had come before. Unfortunately, most readers are so resistant to change, that they would rather see continual reboots in order to keep the same characters doing essentially the same things over and over.

It's hot... but not as hot as the night Johnny Viti got married...

Re: Batman #43 and the ''real Bruce Wayne'' thing…

I liked the post-Final Crisis Justice League, where Powergirl, Dick Grayson, and Shilo Norman got to stand out like the heroes they take after. The idea of the generations were finally coming into full-swing... and then didn't. Tim Drake had a few great adventures in the absence of Bruce Wayne, even impressing Ra's al Ghul, and it's a bit of a shame these nice changes get reset after a while.

Kingdom Come is one of the greatest comics of all time! That story! That art!
