No Good Deed : Did the director of this not think we'd realize it's a rip-off?

Did the director of this not think we'd realize it's a rip-off?

This movie featured the exact same plot as, oh, now let me see. Desperate Hours. Fight For Your Life. Funny Games. Hostage. Knock Knock*. The Last House on the Left. Panic Room. The Strangers. Trespass. Unlawful Entry. Wait Until Dark. You're Next. No fresh twist or spin whatsoever. Might as well have been a remake. What, did he think people would be too stupid to realize this?

* Okay, to be fair, Knock Knock is actually newer than No Good Deed.

Did you watch the film?

Why is it that every time a movie comes out that has even the smallest similarities to another movie, so many people scream "rip-off"? I guess every movie with a spy or a secret agent is a rip off of James Bond, and every slasher movie is a rip-off of Halloween.
